Too bad I cant physically be there to help you. Unfortunately the store tech is correct, water damage is not covered by warranty, you need to just replace the phone wether a week or a year old. Take the phone to a third party tech and see if they can give it an alcohol bath it may give u a temporary fix but with no guarantees, enough to get your info out and saved to a pc or transfered to another phone. I fixed quite a few this way but it is a delicate procedure and not too many techs out there who are brave enough to do the procedure. Good luck.
If you have not tried this yet, follow the instructions
below.
STEP 1.
There is a Device Self Test Diagnostic Application that will test your BB
including your keys on your keyboard.
You can check each key one at a time. Go to OPTIONS, (the WRENCH ICON).
STEP 2.
On this screen select STATUS.
STEP 3.
Type the word TEST. (you won't see it but it will give you a
prompt when ready to proceed. (
STEP 4.
It will prompt you to select START from the MENU.
This will begin the diagnostic selection process.
STEP 5
Click on KEYBOARD & TRACKBALL.
STEP 6
Click on RUN.
STEP 7
Press each key one at a time they should show up on the
screen as you do so. If they do not
function the keyboard is probably defective.
You
should take the phone to the corporate store of the service provider to have it
replaced if it is under warranty or if insured. Call the insurance company if
it is out of warranty. Either way your
BB should be replaced.
PS Note down any error messages you receive (in this case
diagnostic test failed) so you can accurately tell the technician/counter
person when he asks for the problem. It
can help the Tech speed things up while troubleshooting.
