Hi,

If your concern about turning itself of is a notebook or a laptop computer, it may be that the battery is not charged or the AC adapter/charger is not delivering power to the PC.

In some instances (including desktops) this could be because of a fault sensed in the hardware such as the CPU fan not turning, loose connection, dirty memory contacts. Additionally, if you are able to boot to the OS but thereafter shuts down, it is also possible for registry error, driver problems or even a malicious software or a virus.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again Marinko ,

    Appreciate the update.

Since you are able to boot the OS and run for 5-15 minutes, then it is either a virus, a battery problem or a hardware issue. We can rule out the registry or driver possibility.

Try running your antivirus for a full scan and clean/delete any found.

On your Toshiba Notebook, try running it without the battery and see if problem persists. If problem is gone, you may need to charge the batteries at least overnight or have it replaced. Apparently, it is gobbling up all the power from the charger/adapter leaving nothing for the notebook to power itself.

If even running on AC (without the batteries) and problem persists and there were no virus and malicious software detected, then it is possible a hardware issue within the notebook. This could be overheating (stuck up CPU fan), accumulated dust, memory or hard disk.

Acerlaptop isconnected to a dell monitor At first it worked well but then when I turn it on shows all the starting process but at the password screen isstuck on self testfeaturecheck. How do I fix it

As a laptop is involved, you may have bent a pin during connecting and disconnecting the monitor to the laptop. Check that out.

I assume you have tried cycling through the adjustment screens using the buttons on the monitor.

Before you try replacing hardware components, you might try "last good configuration" on your computer via F8 on start up.

How can fix my laptop . it has turn its self up side dowm

The main reason for Windows system randomly because the computer has overheated. To fix this, if you have a laptop, then place the laptop onto a desk or flat surface to make sure that the air can get to it as designed and if you have a desktop, then you should take the side case off the computer and use a fan to cool air at your system.

I believe that would be the battery I would get a new battery that should solve the problem. When you use office or surf the internet that does not require as much power as playing games and watching videos. Just buy a new battery and that should solve the problem

It has problems getting it to turn on.. and when it does turn on, it suddenly turns off by itself after 10 to 15 minutes

It could be overheating (due to the failure of a fan inside the laptop) causing the computer to "self-protect" by shutting itself down.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed air.
Use the air to give a "blow-job" into every air-port in the laptop -- a layer of dust will act as a layer of insulation, preventing the computer from radiating the build-up of heat.

When you turn the computer on, listen for the fan(s) to start running -- put the hairs on your arm near an "exhaust-port" on the PC, to feel if the fans are blowing air out of the laptop.

Hi, my computer screen won't turn on unless the mouse and keyboard are on. They don't ever turn on when the computer starts up and I'm thinking the computer 's reading type of thing maybe be wearing out....

If you are talking about when you turn your computer turns on, then i understand but anything else and i'd be lost. When you turn your computer on it goes thru a POST (Power On Self Test), where it checks the mouse, keyboard and all the internal components of the computer, it does not check to see if there is a monitor connected to the computer. If the mouse and keyboard are not connected to the computer correctly then the computer will error which means that nothing will be displayed on the monitor. If they are connected properly then the problem is in the computer its self, it may be slow or there may be problems with the display output controller. This sort of problem is easy to fix by buying another computer tower or box and transferring your information and hard drive contents over.

USB device detection in Gateway Laptop

It sounds like your laptop BUS (usb power) does not have enough power to power the interface between the two. I had a couple of devices that did that. You may have to buy a SELF powered USB HUB in order to make them connect. The self powered usb will get it's power from and A/C wall outlet and not the laptop. You will connect you device to hub and hub to laptop.
