  • maw2404 Mar 10, 2008

I can scan up and down
    ** external amp

I have this same problem, I put the CD in and all I hear is a clicking/ticking sound. But after I'm driving for a while I will hear my speakers make a poping sound and that means that CD's will start working. I am running my entire system on external amps.

My amps are switched on with the P.CONT wire (blue/white). How do I turn on my TA function?

Ahh makes more sence now, sounds like you are useing the areila remote to switch on your amplifiers.

so when you switch to CD the aerial remote goes low.

and your amps are turning of.

easy way to check this is to put on your traffic or TA function.

if this cures the problem then thats the problem.

both cables are blue i belive..

Tip

I'm still trying to remember my unlock code but I can't ,,,,kenwood kdc - x659...

Hi there, there is a standard procedure we use to bypass the code when we have the gear on the test bench for repair. Try this and it should sort out your problem

You need the remote control to do this, if you don't have one, then you may need to go to a KENWOOD agent and get them to clear the code for you, or purchase one for your use.

KENWOOD KDC SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure

Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit.

The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!

:) POSITIVE FEEDBACK :)

How do you hook up an i-pod to a KDC-135 AND HEAR IT?

You will need a 3.5mm mini to mini cable (available at any good car audio store for between $10-20. Plug that into the headphone jack on your ipod and then into the aux input on your stereo. Then select aux-in as the source on your Kenwood. Now play the music on your ipod at about 3/4 volume on the iPod.

Hi Homer, sorry mate, unless you have a remote control, thatas the only way I know of to do it.I assume that you have read this.

Other way is to ask your friends if they have the same, or go to a car audio installer in your area, and check to see if they can help you out. I used to do this for people. And not charge them. You don't by chance live in Brisbane do you?

Kenwood head unit CD and AUX sound not working

I fixed the sound problem with tech support from Kenwood. I had the blue wire from the Kenwood which is the antennae turn on wired to the amp turn on for the vehicle (2001 Blazer with Bose factory stereo). This is how I was told to wire it from the installation tech where I purchased the wiring harness. The tuning played fine because the Bose amp turned on when I played the tuner but when I played the cd or aux the amp turned off, thus no sound. The kenwood tech toldd me to wire the blue/white wire to the amp turn on for the vehicle so the amp would be on when ever power to the Kenwood was on. I rewired this way and everything works great now.

Code does not work

According to Kenwood's car audio FAQ, the stereo needs to be brought to a Kenwood service center to be decoded. You may run into a problem, however, as Kenwood requires a receipt or other proof of purchase in order to prove you are the rightful owner of the radio.

Good luck, I hope this was helpful, even if it maybe wasn't the answer you would like to hear.

My KDC-X659 STOPPED PLAYING!

Hi Jeka65,

I think you need to have at least 11 volts or more on the yellow and the REd wires for it to turn on. Using a volt meter set on DC volts and at least a range of 20Volts, you can read the REd wire to the Black wire and see if you have at least 11 volts. Do the same for the yellow wire and reference to the black wire. you need at least 11 volts, Your car should be running about 13.6 volts across the battery.
