Driver for win 98 usb and dvd

In here

http://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-install-usb-mass-storage-device-on-windows-98/

is mentioned a generic USB driver for Win98 (which does not have a native driver for USB) and a third party Service Pack 3, which may (indeed should) have a DVD driver for W98. Try them, but scan for malware.

My USB 'Whatever' will not work

This not is not for USB flash drives, microphones, mice, anything that does NOT have an install disc at the time of purchase.

Most USB issues are caused by installing a USB device BEFORE you install the driver disk.
In all cases, if there is a driver disk, insert the disk first and wait for the install program to ask for the device. Then plug it in.

If you have done the faux pas above, all the installs in the world will not fix it. You MUST remove the USB driver. Use Device Manager. In XP, this is found by right clicking my computer and selecting properties. In properties select the hardware tab and choose 'Device Manager'.

Stop here. If you have no idea what I wrote, review 'Device Manager' on the Windows Website or ask a KNOWLEDGABLE friend for help. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123.

Now, select the USB device, while it is plugged in to the USB port, and right click. Select 'Uninstall'. Remove your USB device when device manager is done.

Close Device manager and all the other windows. Start your USB install from scratch, without the USB plugged in untill the install asks or completes.
I have ALWAYS had succesfull installs with this method.

Setting up anything USB & "Device not recognised"

I see a lot of people are having problems with USB. USB is a wonderful standard. However it does have a habit of getting sorta tangled up, generally in the Windows hives/registry.
I am going to show you how to go about installing ANYTHING USB.
First: NEVER EVER, plug in ya USB device before ya install the Software and Drivers.
Second: After installing software & drivers etc. REBOOT.
Third: NOW, plug in your USB device, it should be detected and automatically install the drivers, OR it will ask where they are, navigate to where the files are kept, and they will install, after it has finished, REBOOT.
NOW you should be all good, and ready to use.
Now if you get at any time, "Device not recognised" first, try another USB port, if that doesn't work, & ya keep getting the message .
One thing to try is to go to device manager and TOTALLY remove/uninstall & remove drivers, from ALL USB devices from device manager. then REBOOT.
When windows restarts it will re-install the USB "Layer" all again, all new. Now you can start all again as above.

Next, open device manager (Click Start Menu and type in "Device Manager", right click and run as administrator). Then find your device in the list, and uninstall it. Immediately, unplug the wireless USB from the computer. Now, restart your computer with the USB unplugged. Insert your driver disk and install the driver, when prompted plug the wireless USB back into the computer. Hope this helps.

How to copy all driver installation software from my pc tower onto a 16gb usb drive and then plug usb into old laptop with new software

It doesn't work that way. The current driver software that you have installed will not work on another install. Your best bet is is to go Dell website and enter your service tag(serial number) of your computer and download drivers. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=&l=&s=bsd?c=us

Multimedia card slot not working

If the card slot is not working the fault is either the driver being missing or the card reader is damaged .. If you know it works ... just go to the support site and download the driver for it and install it ..
If the card reader was not a standard on this desktop , there is a possibility the driver is not on the hp site.. and you have to see what model is the card reader and what make and go to their support site ... (the card reader's manufacturer site )
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3254035#N152
If it seams that it has no driver fr the card reader i suggest to install the driver for the chip set .. maybe the card reader is not see cause it does not have all drivers for buses..
another way to install teh driver is to go to device manager by click right on computer folder ..and in there select properties / hardware /device manager ..
In the list look to see the card reader .. if it isn't present click right on computer in the list ..and select scan for hardware changes..
It will scan and show all devices connected and with no driver..
If you are running windows 7 or vista you can try to select the reader when it appears in the list ..click right on ir and select update driver ..and let the windows look for a driver on line .. or select one in the list ..But the best will be to locate the exact driver and install it .
Also if all seam OK but the reader still would not work open it and check the connections on the board.. This card reader is plugged on a usb port in the board .. and it may have an issue with the connecter ..Or try to install the usb 2.0 driver cause if this is a 2.0 usb device ..it may be not seen by the windows without this driver ..

How to insatall a web cam in to the pc

If you have already plugged the USB device into the system before loading the driver, Windows will install a driver for you call “unknown device”. The steps to fix this are to plug the USB device into the computer, then click <Start> <Control Panel> then go into <system>. In there you will need to find the device manager under the hardware tab. When you are in the device manager, you will see a list of all of the hardware install in the computer. Most of them will have the + in front of them showing all is good. There should be one that stands out and most likely, this will be your USB device. At this point you will want to right click the USB device and click remove. Unplug the USB device from you system and reinstall the software. If the software is already install in the system you may be able to just plug the USB device back into the system and it will find the driver.

Kingston DTI/512 DataTraveler USB 2.0 not detected when pluugged into USB port on my HP 6910 laptop but works on other HP's and other PC's

This MAY be a problem of the age of your operating system.

For instance, all USB devices have to have the Drivers installed in a Windows 98 and earlier system (because there were no USB devices back then and therefore no drivers were available to be included in the operating system).

Your Operating System may need to have the drivers installed as well, whereas the other computers that you have tried it on may have later operating systems, with preinstalled drivers in their systems, and therefore recognise the USB device and automatically install the drivers when the unit is installed.

Did your unit come with a disk? Then try installing the drivers from that disk and see if this fixes your problem.

If it doesn't, have you tried different USB ports on your computer to see if it is just a problem with the ports?

Good luck
