I have a maytag se1000 stacked washer and dryer. When i turn it on it fills normally but when the wash cycle starts the whole tub rotates instead of the agitator working back and forth. on spin cycle the tub rotates the other way and pumps the water out normally. I suspect the transmission has problems or a bushing or bearing is locked between the tub and transmission. does this seem probable to you?

Re: maytag se1000 washer
Sounds like the brake is not engaging properly(locks the tub for agitiation) wouldn't say transmission just yet, don't know the age but probably a few hundred dollar repair, i would recommend a maytag guy to do the repair, requires special brake tools and such,

Hello, sounds like you have a faulty lid switch . The lid switch is located behind the tub in the right rear, the front panel and the washer top panel have to be removed to gain access to the switch assembly. good luck
maytag washer dryer stack unit , model # lse7806ace washer fills with water but won't agitate or do anything else. I had the same problem a year ago and replace the lid switch asssemby and fuse and it worked fine until now. the switch clicks when I open and close the lid and the pink and orange wires show continuity with the lid closed.
OK it may be one of 2 things. I would check the lid switch first. On some maytags the have a lid switch that if it is not working properly it will not let the washer fill. If it will not fill the washer will not wash because the pressure switch did not activate the timer to wash. If the switch checks good you might have a bad timer. If you open the control panel you will find a tech sheet with the wiring diagram. I would follow the fill cycle and check the components. You might also check the water valve to make sure its ok too. But its very rear that both the hot and cold would go at the same time. Good luck!
