may I interject here? sounds to me like the motherboard took a hit, or the hard drive...with it being 'lifeless' from the start, that's a really big sign that there's serious issues. I'm assuming that the lcd is dead too? any signals at all on the unit, from plugging it in?

ok...so..the way to remove the keyboard is to look just above the keyboard, and you'll see a panel, which should have the power switch on it..carefully remove that panel, and then, you'll see a few screws holding down the keyboard(most likely smaller phillips head screws)..

gently lift the keyboard, and look to see if it's connected underneath to the motherboard.

the mouse touch pad is much more intense, requiring an extensive disassembly of the unit.

regardless of some functions on the motherboard, the connections for the keyboard and touchpad are quite close together underneath. first thing to check is that those two ribbon cables have NOT been displaced(they are quite fragile actually)

pop off your keyboard off may be it wasn't down very tight. Clean the underside of the keyboard and tighten it down all the way. And see if it works..
    Good luck!

I know my friend. You need to take it apart to do this..

    eagle338 Mar 07, 2008

Its not really hard.. You can refer your manual for the exact procedure. Usually its just a couple fo screws and shouldn't be too hard..

Well what i am suspecting is a loose contact.. hence just to make sure that we this. If this doesn't work then you will have to replace the keyboard or use an external keyboard an mice!

Damn! You didn't tell me this before! Just go and give it back at where you have bought it! They will give you a replacement. You will get a brand new laptop again :). This is counted under warranty unless you spilled some thing on it or threw it on the floor!

It wont get damaged instataneous it takes some time to wreck itself off completely. Well you can still try to get a replacement. just go to the shop and
just tell them that it suddenly stopped working. There is a possibility
that you might get a new piece. Dont tell them you have dropped it.

Its not the motherboard IB4G2008 as he says the touchpad is not working. The system is starting up and everything else is fine.
Grinder. I'm afraid the LCD may also be dead in a short while. Run to the store as quickly as you can!

How to remove toshiba a200 model the password after power on?

Press the appropriate key to enter BIOS setup.
Enter the current password, to allow you to access BIOS setup.
Then, set a new password.

The password exists to prevent a thief in possession of your laptop from using the stolen computer.

Find your original bill-of-sale, and telephone Toshiba, and they will help the registered owner in resetting the password.

yes unfortunately when you flash the bios it is physically erasing the cmos chip and then re-imaging the new bios on it..the cmos chip is attached to the motherboard..you can get *** removed and replaced but its a lot cheaper and easier just to by a new motherboard

I have toshiba notebook A200.I have been using a USB mouse, and I now can not get the touch pad to operate.Plerase advise me what I can do.I have tried FL F9 to no avail.

If you unplug the mouse and then start up the machine does the touchpad not work at that point?

Some systems have a settings in BIOS that prevent the touchpad from working if a mouse if connected.

Try unplugging, start up and if the touchpad doesn't work, shut down and go into the system settings and turn on the touchpad (if turned off).

Also, make sure the device manager doesn't show any Yellow Exclamation points, meaning a bad or missing driver. To get to Device Mananger, go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager (in Windows XP that is).

I have a toshiba sattelite pro whose cursor jumps around the screen when i am typing. is there any way to stop this as it is really annoying?

Either its because you are hitting your touchpad while you are typing, or the little eraser mouse ball thats on the keyboard is faulty. If that is bad, you must replace the keyboard.
