It depends on a few things:

    • What kind of music you listen to.

    • Whether you prefer to have the sub's response be flat across it's frequency range or have it peak at a certain frequency.

    • How much room you have to work with in the vehicle.

What box should i use for alpine swr-12d2

What size box does this sub need in a sealed box & a ported box. If you have room use a ported box that fits your subs. Probox & other brands may have the perfect box for them. I would tune the box to 40hz if you like loud tight bass.

I have 8 alpine dvc type r 12s, should i port them or go with a sealed box.

depends what kind of car they are going in and what kind of sound you are going for.
generally speaking ported boxes are louder, if you choose this i would recommend filling box with poly-fill.
non-ported boxes get deeper bass and hit much harder. no matter what set up you choose a good quality box that does not flex is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT. you will want the wood to be at least 3/4" thick and the correct cubic feet.

What's the best Subwoofer box for a 12" alpine SWR-1223D?

According to the manual you should be looking at sealed, vented or bandpass type boxes. Really just depends on what type of bass you're looking to get out of it.
When you decide on the type check the manual for optimum specifications for the type of box you're looking to build.

What type and size of box should i use with this

For optimal performance there is really only one size for the box .Firstly, you get two different types of subwoofers, an open air, or closed air sub. If it is an open air sub ( hole with mesh in the center of the magnet) no ports are required, and the box should be sealed on the inside with silicone sealant. If it is a closed air sub ( no hole in the magnet) you need a 50mm port about 120mm long. Box size will be 13 inches x 13 inches x 13 inches

What is the best box for 2 ALPINE SWR-1242D 12"SUBWOOFERS TYPE-R NEW SUB WOOFERS

Ported and tuned to around 37-40 hertz. After all displacement the box should be in the 2.2 cubic foot for sub and you will be very impressed. Build it yourself for optimum sound and output.

Pioneer box

Hi,

Thanks for using fixya!

I have had the same problem that you are having right now. I basically don't know how to start making my own sub box. Well, I chose the Bass-reflex type Box. This the best. Check this link out for a detailed overview of sub box making. http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1789/build-your-own-10-inch-subwoofer/

Have a great day.

1500w duel coil subwoofer

Depends on the type of music you listen to and the type of sound you want out of the box. If you're looking for "as loud as possible", you'll probably want a ported box, as this will make the output of the sub peak at a specific frequency and drop off at others. If you wanted more of an even response across many frequencies, a sealed box is probably best. Kenwood has recommended sizes in the owner's manual.
