Acer aptop my acer laptop screen keeps going realy bright and then back to being dull, ive only had it 4 a week and its been sent back to be repaired and they say theres nothing wrong.and when i am writing it has a mind of its own and half of what i am writing ends up somewhere else, what could be the problem?????

You might have a failing back light on the LCD

1.Try to understand,without waranty not able to service your laptop without charge.
2.I thing you are not statisfing with acer service
3.In this scenario you go to consumer court with strong proof.(that means how many days of your laptop stay in service center only like that)

go into your bios at start up press f2,del or f8 and you'll see some kind of brightness control pretty sure but their is several thinkpads

Try to reset the Bios settings on the laptop... dont worry.. shutdown the laptop restart it and press F8 on the key board.. continuously... Once you are at the Bios and Cmos settings find a way to reset all the settings to default...

the brightness light might gone bad. u have to examine the system by a authorized service centre or some qulified technicain.  may be hey could repair it without replacement of screen.

Well, Declan try go to your display properties by right click on your desktop then left click properties. Go to settings tab and click the troubleshoot button.

Im afraid to say this however, its possible the your monitor has a problem because most laptops and as well LCD's and Flat Screen TV's have its disadvantage of its lifespan. Since these types of screens have limited feature especially on display that it doesn't distribute the light image very well inspite of its low radiation to give our visual taste more better and more clear. That's why that most of these types of monitors won't get your eyes strained. But when it comes to durability, it much lesser advantage to compare with CRT monitors.

If tese dont work either your LCD lamp or board may be going bad.

If the brightness is dull even when connected to the mains, it maybe that your back lighting is faulty on the screen and you will need a qualified repairer, although it may be worth looking at a new notebook depending on the cost.
