I accidentally removed the lexmark printer program from my computer in the control panel. i do not have the disk.

Go into devices and printers and right click on the printer you want to remove and click on remove device or delete. Then go into control panel and if you have xp go into add remove programs and click on the software for the printer and then click on remove program. If you have windows 7 go to desktop click on the circle start menu in the bottom left corner an type programs and features into the search box and click on the programs from the list and then find the software on the list and click on it and click remove wahhh lahhh

Go to start, choose control panel, choose add/remove programs, right click mouse and choose remove.

Another is try to run your computer on SAFE MODE and then uninstall the printer driver by pressing F8 key when start up boot and then choose run on safe mode. Once system is load, go to control panel and choose add/remove programs and then uninstall the printer driver.

Once you have physically unhooked the old printer and all of its cabling and moved it out of the way of your computer, cick on Start > find the Control Panel and click on it > in the Control Panel look for Add/Remove Programs OR Programs/Uninstall Programs. Once you are in there, look for anything related to your OLD Lexmark printer - select it - and click remove/uninstall.

After removing every piece of software related to the OLD Lexmark printer, restart your computer. You should then be able to install your new printer without any issue.

Try uninstalling any unnecessary software applications you might have (Control Panel->Add/Remove programs).
Failing that, you can also remove any files you may have sitting around in the "My Documents" folder that are not necessary, or move them to another hard disk at least.

its a dell problem with their software. Delete the printer from teh control panel & the program listing..then reinstall!
Also...good old MS making billions from defect software products..Vista is still not solid! You may want to go back to XP home.

You must do the following for your Lexmark printer to rule out a driver/cable/communications issue:

1. Go to control panel, My programs and find the software program and uninstall the software.
2. Go to Stat, Control panel, printers and delete your printer.
3. Remove your printer cable from your PC.
4. Reboot your PC.
5. Turn off your Lexmark printer.
6. Insert the Lexmark software disk that came with the printer.
7. Follow the instruction from the software disk which will basically walk you through the re-installation of your printer by: Inserting the printer cable into the pc, turning on the printer so the pc can recognize it.

##Make sure if at all possible to delete all other printers from the control panel printer section
8. Try to print a test page from the printer properties section.

- If you receive any errors go to: start, control panel, administrative tools, event log for their description.

what I would do is delete the hard files first. do this by going to Start then hitting the Search button in the search bar type Lexmark X3550 and all subfolders do a search in your hard drive more possibly labled C:// drive once all those folders appear making sure that only Lexmark information is shown drag and drop these in the recycle bin. next go back to Start-then Control panel-then add or remove programs scroll down once populated search programs appear search to see if there is an icon for lexmark if this is so then click add or remove button after highlighting and click to remove. the next step is to remove the printer from the computer and remove the power cord. reinstall the printer as a new install first time install follow the instructions that are on your install disk.

Go to this link and then to the support section. You then need to find the software for your specific model of printer. this is the same or maybe updated software that came with your printer.
Before you run this software go into add remove programs on your computer (this is done through the control panel) and make sure that all software that has anything to do with Lexmark is um-installed. run the program from the website and your problem should be solved. As a Little side note, if the printer connects to your computer with a USB cable then make sure the printer is physically disconnected from the computer before running the program from the web site.
