Question about Intec S848P Motherboard

1 Answer

Ram issues Hi, Right I am currently running the following setup: Chaintech S848P motherboard PNY DDR 400 1GB RAM module 256mb DDR AGP graphics Nvidia 6200A Barracuda IDE 80GB Maxtor sata 250gb DVD dual layer etc 5.1 creative sound card and I "was" running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate edition quite happily, completely randomly the screen goes black and it intermitantly beeps (on for a period of time and then off) Upon reboot it also fails. I then try the Ram in different areas - to no avail I borrowed someone elses ram - still dies The only ram i have so far managed to get working is an ancient 256mb stick! Oh and to clarify I have taken out all other component to attempt to figure out whats dead, as far as I can see it can only be the ram or the mb thats dead... Any ideas greatly appreatiated. Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

take the working 256 meg stick out of the slot it,s in. and try it in slot 2 or vice-versa.
This will eliminate the possibility of the mainboard being faulty.
If you get a boot on both Ram slot channels, then your Ram is dead, or incorrect. Check that it,s compatable with the motherboard. i.e running speed 2700-3200-et,c and that it is the correct parity and voltage, as per required by the board/CPU.

What would be the best compatible 512 MB GPU(with shader 3 or 4) working with P4I45GV 3.00 /P4 2.4 GHZ/1 Gb ram ?

http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Model=P4i45GV%20R5.0

Any of them Shubham.

If we are to discern by a few known statements;

1) It is believed in some 'geek communities', that using the same manufacturer of motherboard chipset, and graphics chipset; to be a good thing.

For example an AMD motherboard chipset 'plays well' with an AMD ATI graphics chipset;

Nvidia motherboard chipset 'plays well' with Nvidia graphics chipset.

Intel motherboard chipset with Intel graphics..............no wait,....... there is no Intel graphics chipset, unless it is -> Integrated Graphics.
[ Intel GMA ]

(Integrated Graphics is also said as OnBoard graphics. ON the motherBOARD)

2) DOES NOT MATTER what graphics memory type is used.

Motherboard can use DDR Sdram ram memory, and graphics card can use GDDR5.

Why?
Because the graphics card has it's own Processor, and Ram Memory.

Graphics Processing Unit, or GPU; is the Processor,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

Graphics memory is the ram memory.

Operates independent of the system resources.
Processor, and Ram Memory.

The graphics expansion slot on the P4I45GV (P4 i 45GV), is an AGP slot.
Accelerated Graphics Port,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGP

It will use an AGP 4X, or AGP 8X graphics card.
Use an AGP 8X.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=agp+graphics+card+512mb

REMEMBER;

1) ALWAYS follow Anti-Static Precautions.

2) INSTALL the software for the graphics card F-I-R-S-T,
(Drivers and 'control panel')

THEN unplug the computer from power, follow Anti-Static Precautions, and Physically plug the graphics card into the motherboard, and install.

3) L@@k at the system requirements (Minimum) for the graphics card.
Specifically the Power Supply requirements. You need a Power Supply with enough Wattage, to handle the graphics card.

[ Handles the graphics card, and -> Motherboard, Processor, Ram Memory, and peripherals; Internal and External.
{Harddrive/s, optical drive/s; Internal
Mouse, Keyboard, external harddrive, etc; External ]

Ram issues with biostar n68sb-m2s motherboard

To determine if a 1Gb RAM module is faulty insert one RAM module in the motherboard at a time. If the both 1Gb RAM modules work then the RAM modules from different manufacturers are incompatible with each other. Try using RAM modules of the same make and speed.

The Foxconn K8S755A6ELRS motherboard uses DDR Sdram at a frequency rate of either,

266MegaHertz, or 333MHz, or 400MHz.

PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200, respectively.

The Maximum Total Amount for the motherboard is 3GigaByte (3GB)
There are 3 Ram Memory slots.
The Maximum Amount for EACH Ram memory slot is 1GB.

{Has an AGP expansion slot for a graphics card.
Uses AGP 8X graphics cards}

Look in the BIOS, under the video ram settings. What is the largest RAM it can handle? 128? 256? 512? This will give you an indication as the size of video RAM that you can have on your card.

Hope this helps.

I can't recognize what specific RAM this motherboard accepts..

Dear sir,

In reply to your post- Generally now a days we use DDR400 RAM(DDR 1) for this type of motherboard.So DDR 400 RAM is More compatible then other RAM,you can use this RAM for your motherboard to obtain good performance.

good luck

Which latest Graphic card can be supported by my Asrock P4i45GV?

Hi

Any video card that supports AGP x8 Should work on this motherboard.

For example Nvidia 7800 GS AGP or 7600 GS AGP should work fine.

But a better investment would be to upgrade the motherboard to a PCI-E supporting board and possibly AMD Dual or Triple / quad core processor the ram is very cheap for DDR2 these days.

Upgrade would be best in long run.

Nvidia Geforce FX5200 128mb DDR AGP 8x

Hi, since you mentioned you installed an MSI card & it worked well. I can assume you changed the bios & to boot to the AGP rather than the Integrated 3D video. This is good. Notice the message you got from Nvivia. It could not locate any compatible drivers. This can indacates 1 of 4 reasons.
1. The 5200 was not completely incerted into the AGP slot.
2. The AGP slot is dirty & needs cleaned.
3. Nvidia software was installed but previouse graphics software was not removed (un-installed) before the installation of the nvidia software.
4.The card is bad.
Suggest you download the latest driver software from Nvidia.

KM4M-L and graphics cards/memory queries

I would hate to burst the bubble but if you buy any DDR2 memory, then you will be wasting your money.
This motherboard only supports standard DDR upto 333mhz and only 2gig max of that.

Video card wise, then an ATI 9800 Pro can be had cheaply or an nVidia 6800 AGP version can be purchased new.

Hope it helps =)
