Your iPod might have frozen.
Step 1: Hold your iPod like how you would hold an iPhone.
Step 2: Locate a button at the top of your device, this is your lock button.
Step 3: Locate a button on the face of your iPod, this is called the home button.
Step 4: Press and hold BOTH buttons for a minute and you will see a slider appear at the top of the screen. Drag your finger across it to let it turn off.
Step 5: After waiting for it to turn off - the screen will be blank and not lit, press and hold your lock button for a few seconds and the Apple logo will appear. Give it a minute and your iPod should now be back to normal.
Note: If this does not solve the issue, you have one of three choices:
- If you bought your device less than a year ago, you might be able to get a free replacement from Apple at an Apple Store on the spot - it is most likely part of the included one year warranty.
- Go to the Apple Store and pay a fee to fix it.
- Go to the Apple Store with your iPod, and buy a new one for a 10% discount.
