Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Kenmore Series 70 Washer does NOT spin (coupler is fine).

My washer does everything but spins out at the end. Over a months time I noticed it not spinning very well here and there and I've even smelled what seems to be rubber burning. The last few times I've used it I have had to help it along in getting the spin cycle to go but it's pretty much done now.

I've searched and found similar problems online but when my husband took the machine apart we found;

the coupler part was fine.

we replaced the dog agitators

there was a faint spraying of grease around the inner wall of the washer casing.

From here we don't know where to go. Local repair shops want an arm and a leg to repair/home visit. I can't believe after only 3-4 years this has to be replaced???

Any help is much appreciated.

    just wanted to follow up on this...

    we found a reasonable handyman and our washer was repaired. it seems the seal was broke around the trans. which leaked grease into the clutch. a new seal and one clutch later it is working like new.

Kenmore 70 Series Washing Machine Drains, But Won't Spin

Yes sir, a bad motor coupler could cause the machine not to spin. You did the right thing in checking out the lid switch and the pump first. It sounds as if the motor coupling is worn and may be slipping. I will attach a link to a video that may assist you. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, clothes are too wet

Not a belt, this is only a sound deadening devise on the brake housing. Not really needed. Replace the coupler

Kenmore 70 series will not drain or spin

It sounds like the lid switch. If it ws the coupler the water would drain. Check to see if the lid switch is clicking when you put the lid down. replace the lid switch. You have a great washer. Fairly cheap fix.
