Question about Brother IntelliFax-2820 Laser Fax

Brother 2820 paper feeding problem

Paper is not feeding into the machine from the rear paper input. It seems that the feeder is not grabbing the sheet at all. Of course this generates an error.
It seems like even though the paper is not feeding into the machine, the printer starts to print, then tries to advance the sheet again as it would during normal printing, and then realizes that there is no paper.
I know this is an old machine and not worth much, but if it can work correctly it has more value than it would as eco-damaging waste.
Thanks for your help.

Ooops, this machine is actually an 1820c not a 2820. Sorry.

An easy fix would be to try to clean the paper feed rollers in the paper pick up area with a gentle cleaner like soap and water or simple green. Do not use alcohol as this will break down the rubber over time. If this doesn't work, you may have drive problem and will need to refer to a professional to resolve.

Paper will not transport through the printer

The MP210 being a rear sheet feeder machine will suffer this problem like all rear sheet feed machines. Its not a fault of the machine but where it is placed. i bet you have it on a desk up against a wall that has a notice board behind it. usually a pin falls off the board and finds its way into the sheet feeder.
When your machine pulls in the paper ,it probably skews the paper to one side and stops.
Gently pull back the paper and look at the end that fed into the machine (the bottom of the sheet)
It probably has a kink in it. offer it back to where you load the paper in the machine. This gives you an idea where in the machine the obstruction is that the paper is hitting. Use a long unfolded paper clip and see if you can retrieve the object. If you want you can remove the cartridges and turn the printer upside to shake out the object.

Good luck

Lexmark x2350 all in one. paper will not feed

One of the leading causes of paper not feeding issues is some sort of foreign objects or debris falling into the paper feed system. Remove the sheets of paper. Grab a flashlight and look into the feeder for any debris. If you are willing and capable, carefully lift the printer upside down. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

The printer will not feed the paper into the machine

Hmm, this is too general symptom too troubleshoot. But never mind. Printer cannot feed the paper for several reasons:
Auto sheet feeder (paper feeding mechanisme) is faulty;usually generate error message on the monitor or/and error code on LCD display
Paper end did not reach paper sensor because the paper not set properly or another material block the paper path.
To find out more about this error, please check the following article exclusively for Canon printer.

Paper jam in Panasonic KX-

Your document feed is separate from your received and report prints so that's why your reports are printing ok and the document feeder jams. When you open up the doc feeder and look inside the machine you will see a roller and above it on the cover that opens you will see a rubber pad. Clean both the roller and pad (in fact anything in there that is rubber) with a rubber cleaner, alcohol, or even soap and water on a cloth without it been dripping wet. You will probablt find that they are very dirty. The roller feeds the document in so that needs to be clean and the pad helps to keep all the other docs from feeding in at the same time and that should be very clean so it produces good friction.

Information on how to use rear feed

1. Prepare your doc/file for printing.
2. Insert card stock with narrow side of stock in slot in back of printer until it hits rollers and stops. Don't force in any card stock thicker than max. rated.
3. Change printer setup to feed from rear.
4. Print.

Depending on what software you print from, you may need to change this each time you print if you intend to keep printing from that "tray."

Feeds two sheets on top of each other through feeder when transmitting.

The problem is not the sensor, itis the rollers that feed and seperate the paper.
the sensor only tells it there is paper, in the machine. then there is a tire that feeds the paper and another that stops the others from feeding at the same time. If the tire ( on some models it's a pad that looks like it has a rubber or a cork.) is old it looses it's grip and let's the paper slip by. Try cleaning with alcohol, must be replaced eventually.

My MP510 grabs way to many sheets of paper.

hi i am a Canon certified repair tech for this printer. it seems that your problem is due to a broken sheet feeder unit. what i ahve seem with some new machines is that a plastic shaft that controls ther seperation of the pages breaks. most of these problems occurs with new machine because they are shipped from place to place. if the unit is under a year old it is still under warrenty and can be brought to or shipped to a repair center. even if its not under warrenty any longer you should still call Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and complain that it has been doing it since you bought it and they will locate the nearest repair center to your location for you. hope this helps.
