Lexmark x2470 - Scanner Problem?

I just received a newly purchase Lexmark x2470 and I believe the trouble is with my scanner. I can print my alignment page, but I can't get beyond that...As I attempt to scan the alignment page to complete the alignment, it makes a very loud clicking noise and when I lift the lid, I see that the scanner light does not move...it looks to me as if it is stuck on the far right side of the scanner bed. Can I fix this myself or do I have to send it in? The online company I purchased it just directed me to Lexmark's tech service who claim a supervisor will be calling me back, but I can't get anyone on the phone as of yet.

    scanne will not work!

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2008

Having installed a newer version of Windows, my scanner will no longer work. The Lexmark X2470 prints, and copies, however i just can not get the scanner to work. it is doing my head in. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I may fix the problem.

I can scan the alignment page whenever i change the ink, but the scanner will not work, it can print and copy, but when it comes to scanning it tells me the scanner cannot be enabled and then tells me the scanning was terminated abnormally. Why would it do that, it's really getting on my nerves to be polite

I have the same problem - won't scan. Never has. And since I can't scan the print out, it won't let me print either. Never been able to print (other than the test page) or scan.

SOURCE: I am trying to print

run this clean uninstall utility

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:94:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=1236&searchLang=en&os_group=WinXP

download the drivers from lexmark

http://www.downloaddelivery.com/downloads/cpd/CJXP73LE.exe

plug in your printer and install the drivers.

if this does not work then extract the driver file you downloaded "CJXP73LE.exe", go to start ->settings->printer and faxes....install a new printer (make sure local printer and auto-detect are checked)...follow it through and your printer should install. if at any time it asks for drivers or you want to manually point to the drivers then browse to the location where you extracted the "CJXP73LE.exe" file. you can download a program like "winrar" (type it in google) to extract it.

SOURCE: Scanner

Do you have any scanner software installed to use your scanner with? In most cases a scanner comes with CD that installs a software package that will allow immediate use of the scanner after installation. Once that package is installed, you place picture in one of the corners of the scanner underneath the lid of course and press either the manual scan button that is on some scanners or the button on the software package that you installed into the computer when first configuring the scanner during installation. I assume you have acquired the scanner as a twain source else little will happen.

How do i replace my ink cartages

Removing a used print cartridge:
  1. Make sure the printer is on.
  2. Lift the scanner unit. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the printer is busy.
  3. Press down on the lever to raise the cartridge lid.
  4. Remove the used print cartridge.

To install a new cartridge, remove the sticker from the back and bottom of cartridge. Insert the new cartridge in the slot. Close the lid. Lift the scanner unit, press the scanner support back until it slides into the slot, and close the scanner unit.

Can Lexmark x2470 scan and print a double sided document?

after reading the manual, http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2400/ug_en.pdf, yes it is possible - not that it tells you how to do it though so read on.
Until you become familiar with the process just use one sheet of paper at a time in the printer.
As you know, in the scanner the top right of your document goes to the right hand front corner of the scan bed (the clear window), place the page on the scanner and scan.
Pick up the printed sheet of paper and flip it so the left hand side edge is now in your right hand and the right hand edge is now in your left hand and you are now looking at the blank side of the paper.
Insert the page back into the sheetfeeder.
Flip the page to copy in the scanner so the rearmost edge of the paper is now to the front of the scan bed and the front edge of the paper is now towards the rear (you should now be looking at the page you scanned previously).
Scan the page.
you should have now scanned both sides of one sheet of paper to another sheet of paper.
as your printer does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner you have to do the process manually. hope this helps.
