You must check your phone line and make sure it is a clear and static clear line. listen to the connectioin for a dial tone and for the roviders dialup tone. you must determine if the problem is your service provider or a problem on your end. you should have a customer suport number for your service provoder. if you dont search the web for there customer sopport number. usualy they will helpm you troublshoot your problem. also your service provider line may be buse. I thank though if it is you would recieve amessage stating as such. I have had my modem taken out by lightning. in that case. it will do nothing. I had to have the provider troubleshoot from ther end to my mopdem to vewrify my modem wasw fried

Windows vista crashed. changed bios to load xp. worked. old files on hidden drive. problem is cant connect to internet. driver files on hidden drive. Now what? Try to find driver and load it?

your explanation is very confusing. your internet connection must come from a modem either directly or remotely thru router. your mentioning of hidden drive does not make sense. drivers are not part of internet connection. you need to reset the modem and router if you are connecting through it. turn everything off. unplug router and modem. after 15 seconds unplugged, plug only modem in, wait until lights stablize; now plug router power back in, wait for lights to come on;,next turn PC on. Wait until completely booted up. go to control panel click on Network Internet, when opens try to find the local connect to network. if none, then your modem is not receiving signal or IP Address from your internet provider(comcast, centurylink, whoever). check status, if active fine. if active but icon says no internet access then your router is not set correctly. you may have lost its set up and you will have to reset up your router. you should have the step or instructions for doing that. after resetting and network active, restart computer so that is receives fresh settings from router.
if no network is found after restart you may have to reconfigure your internet connect by using the internet connection wizard(control panel).

My lenovo y450 crash when connected to intenet

your modem should not overheat in the first place. try calling your ISP to replace it, by doing so, you can prevent further accidents as well.

Trying to connect to internet but screen says internal modem has no driver - it sees no modem

If you're compuer is connected to a router or DSL/Cable modem through Ethernet connection, you don't need to have to use internal modem. Internal modem are just for dial up connection.

If everytime you launch IE browser and it gives you that prompt, your browser may have set up to connect everytime to a dial up connection. Try to check these settings on your IE:

1. Go to Start> Settings> Control Panel> Internet Options
2. On Internet Options, go to Connections tab.
3. Delete everything under Dial Up and Virtual Private Network Settings, Or just set it to 'Never Dial A Connection'.
4. Click on LAN Settings button.
5. On the next window, uncheck everything (particularly the proxy setting).
6. Click OK all the way out.

Modem connection problems

The DNS failing is because of your Broadband provider. When you purchased their internet, they were supposed to supply you with a modem. If they arent helping you with this, they are scamming you of your money and you need to go with a new provider. The DNS has nothing to do with what you do or what you can do. (Nothing you will do will controll this except for contacting an internet service provider.)

Only 1 computer getting internet with FS605

Sorry to say, you have the wrong part. Whoever told you you could hook it up to both your PCs and your cable modem didn't know what they were talking about.

Your FS605 is just a switch; hooked up directly to a cable modem, you will only see one IP address as that's all the cable modem will allocate.

What you need is a router, to allocate multiple local IP addresses and share the connection up to the cable modem.

Linksys BEFSR41 routers are ridiculously cheap these days and highly reliable, or if you like Netgear, you'll need the RP614.
