Question about Lexmark Color JetPrinter Z23 InkJet

1 Answer

Paper sensor, I think

Lexmark Z23, over 6 years old, suddenly stopped printing.

  1. Power light is on, steady, and will not turn off.
  2. Paper feed light is blinking.
  3. There is no paper jam visible.
  4. It is connected to a 1-year-old iMac and when a print job is sent to the printer, the printing information window shows it is printing (or is in the print queue) but nothing is happening with the printer itself.
  5. When the lid is raised (as if to change an ink cartridge) the print head holder does not move to the center)

im trying to fix my grandfather's z23, and im having the same problem. im about ready to recreate the scene from office space :-)

The power light is on steady. The paper feed light is on steady, but was initially blinking. The printer is totally unresponsive. My iMac Os10.2 shows the computer is communicating with the printer. I have unplugged all connections, reconnected, and checked for jams. There are none. Is there anything to be done for this Lexmark Z23 or is it a deep six?

Check the cable first..and do a test page, if you can without the printer connected to anything.

then, if that all works, we can look elsewhere, no?

The printer was printing OK. Suddenly the paper refeed into the printer. I removed the paper but now the printer is not feeding paper. I think I may have move or disloged a sensor in the paper feeder...

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.

I have a MacBook, and a Lexmark E232 laser printer. It has worked fine for several years but all of a sudden when I try to print the light for the light for a paper jam comes on. I have cleared it, and...

The problem is that the printer thinks that there is a paper jam inside the printer. What could be happening is that there was a paper jam the paper was pulled out but the actual sensor that detected the paper probably got damaged, either broken or malfunctioning. In this case try the following, turn off the printer and open the front cover. Then press and hold down the two front buttons while having the cover open and turn the printer on. Then wait untill the bottom light stays on solid then release the buttons that should reset the printer. If after that the paper jam error does not go away then you are probably looking at a damaged sensor. To fix that you will have to take it in to have it service.
Hope it helps.

Paper not feeding correctly

try to clean the carriage and see if a Q-TIP will reach the feed rollers. They probably still have some ink still on them.

What does the forth light mean? and what to do to make the printer pickup the paper as my printer stop as soon as it starts to print.

If you are including the power light, the fourth light relates to loading paper. A steady light means it needs paper, a blinking light wants you to load the paper into the manual feeder. If you are not including the power light, its calling out a paper jam.

Lexmark E232 - Tray-1 Paper Problem

Have the same problem after 1,500 pages! This was Lexmark's solution (and it worked)...

Take the paperfeed tray out and you will see a red lever , press it
downwards and you will see the paperfeed rollers coming down , you need to
pull the rubber tyres off those rollers and place them inside out over
them and then try printing any document. Check the paper weight and
the paper type you need to use 20 pounds regular paper and try runnning a
can of compressed air inside the machine.
If rubber tyres on the paper feed rollers are totally worned out you
need to replace the feed rollers.
