Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

Problem with vista, outlook 2003 and emails

Hi to all my fellow fixya experts, i have a problem for you. See... ive been using Windows XP with outlook 2003 for my email client for a POP3 account that came with my ISP. Everything was working just fine for all the years i was using that combination. But after the upgrade to vista something strange started to happen, a lot of emails that were from regular contacts of mine came to me as full of garbage characters instead of being properly formatted, like an uncoded email, it just looked like goble-dee-gook. A lot of times email from my contacts would go into my junk email box, very strange considering that i use the same default settings for junk filters before and after upgraded to vista. Again this never used to happen when i used XP. I don't have any email filters, and for your info im using AVG free edition for my anti-virus, and i have windows defender enabled in Vista. I have been using AVG when i had XP before so i would rule that out as a culprit

To help you all out im planning to provide perhaps some images and videos to show you exactly what is happening.

Here some summarized facts in point form to break it all down for you:

  • emails often are received as goble-dee-gook encoded characters
  • some emails don't get through to me and the sender is notified that his or her email was not able to be delivered
  • no changes have been made to the ISP email configuration before and after, email filter set to "low" in both OSes
  • only change made was going from XP to Vista, email client is the same Office 2003, no settings changed all default
  • same ISP before and after upgrade
  • all emails are in English
  • emails from the same senders can received perfectly to other online free clients such as Hotmail or Gmail, no problems at all
  • i will post videos and pics of this issue soon

My questions are:

1. Is this happening because of Vista or is my ISP the source of problems (unlikely)

2. What part of vista is causing the problem?
a- Is it Windows Defender?
b. something else i haven't considered yet

3. Is office 2003 somehow incompatible with certain types of emails in Vista? Does this problem also occur with Office 2007.
4. Is there some kind of spam or junk email filter in Vista that blocks emails incorrectly?
5. Am i missing a language, or character pack, or somekind of application to decode the gobledegook?

(Using Juno POP) When downloading e-mails in Outlook 2003 the following is happening. For instance the server tells me there are 5 e-mails in the incoming server, during the download I can see the names of the senders for a split second but when they appear in the incoming box, some simply have disapeared. This is since I use Vista whci I think is no good.

Vista 64bit blocks Outlook 2003 send/receive activity and prevents connectivity to exchange server. i tried removing anti-virus which brings connectivity back up. i reinstall and two weeks later problem happens again. This happened with Norton, NOD32, AVG and Comodo. What is causing this?
I turned off Windows firewall and Defender; also reinstalled Outlook and Office SP3. Every two weeks problems.
    Can anyone help?

Vista Home Premium, 4gb RAM, gigabit NIC, T1 at work and DSL 756 at home.

How to download outlook express to send mails

You can't really download Outlook Express as it is part of Windows XP.
If it is not there, you can add it though the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel. Select the Windows Components icon in the left-hand pane.

In Vista Outlook Express is replaced by Windows Mail, and in Windows 7 there is no email program, but you can download Windows Live Mail.

MFC-5840CN Scan to email. How do it get it to work with gmail

Hi there,
This model does not have the capability to scan to a Web-based email clent. You can, however, configure Outlook Express to work with gmail then this scanner can scan to Outlook Express.
If you would like to do this there are step-by-step instructions here for Outlook Express in Windows XP:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13276

If you have Windows Vista then you have Windows Mail instead of Outlook Express and yuo want the instructions here:

Good luck!

Transfering mail setup from Windows xp to a windos vista machine with EasySuite

I'm not 100% sure about vista because I hate it but I can help you copy all of your outlook express data to a CD\DVD disk & your address book. Your network settings for express account is a phone call to your ISP.
If vista's explorer is set up like XP you should be able to copy your data into outlook express.
Open all these folders on you XP system.
User name\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Copy the Outlook Express folder to your CD.
User name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book. Copy Address Book folder.
Making sure you have everything.
Open, User name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Compair the two Outlook Express folder files. CD will not allow copy of same named folder.
If Vista's lay out is the same as XP than copy Outlook Express folder to Vista.
Suggest you have your current ISP setting /account setup before copying to Vista

Let me know if this works for you!
Good Luck & Kind Regards.
