Update the drivers and check, also try and use a lens cleaner on the drive and if the DVD does not read then the drive is faulty and must be replaced. Finally you can check this on another PC to confirm.
Try media player classic a software that can play dvds and cds
why the DVD wont play might be for different reasons...
2 broad category
software / hardware
0.I ll assume its a drive that can play cds and dvds
1.software- u must have a problem with the drivers. Drivers tell computer's brain how to connect to each of its organs(parts like monitor keyboard DVD drive etc) if this is missing its like ur brain doesnt know how to move ur right hand...u ll need to reinstall the drivers then... u ll get the drivers from the website for the laptop
2. next try using a lens cleaner for ur drive it usually is an air can and a disc... try that ...
3. If still the problem hasnt been solved... the trouble maybe with the drive physically which means u d have to replace the DVDdrive...
Maybe its beacuse its not the right type of drive for your notebook. Did you maybe upgrade your program ? That happend to me before. i had to geta friend to help me fix it . Try downloading a dffernt version or getting a new program.
That machne does not have a bluray drive & that is the simple reason why you can not play a blu ray disc. This is what your drive supports.
Plays Standard or multiregion DVD's & Audio CD's. Records DVDs 8x & CDs 24x & Dual Layer Super Multi. No Bluray or HD DVD,
If you were sold the machine as a bluray laptop then take it back & demand your refund.
Just check if the region code has not been locked.
If you cannot play DVD's at all, first clean the lens, then install a good DVD player like cyberlink etc and then try.
If the issue is related to Data DVD's as well, change the media that you are using, eg change the media type to Samsung, Sony and check.
Lemme know if it works.
