Replacing a defunct AC97 Audio devise card with PCI sound card. Told to disable onboard audio with jumper. cannot find manual to locate JP7 devise looking for mainboard manual.

The manual can be found here.

Normally, the onboard audio is disabled through the BIOS settings.

Check your "integrated Peripherals" tab in the BIOS for your on-board audio device settings.

I did not see anything about JP7 when I skimmed the maual.

Do you have a soundcard installed or do you have onboard sound?
If its onboard then the Realtek AC97 driver will probably do

Audio drivers

You should be able to use the Realtek AC97 codecs for your machine. You have a choice of standard AC97 (probably the one you're looking for) and the AC97 HD (also available from the same link). One of them will work with your PC.

Post your results of if you need additional assistance.

How do I disable the onboard sound in an Aspire m5621 desktop

there is normally an option in bios to turn off. Are you sure there is no option? Its normally under onboard controller/etc. When you go into bios try holding CTRL+F1 as for some bios's this enables an advanced menu.

If this does not apply then can you go into device manager and sounds/audio controllers? It should be listed there, generically its ac97 audio, or something like this. Right click, properties, uninstall/remove device.

I hope this helps.

Sound output is veryless in msi pvpm4 motherboard

Hi, having used MSI boards myself I found their website very useful. Open your case, locate and right down your board serial number and revision number, Logon to the website [Google MSI] go to downloads. and locate the latest audio drivers for your board. This should fix the problem, if not then you have a failure on the onboard sound. At boot up go to bios and disable onboard sound. Install a PCI sound card with drivers and that will then give you sound again. Regards mistyman
