Question about Philips GoGear HDD1830 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Static I have a Phillips Go Gear 3 GIG MP3 Player. I have had no problems until my most recent down load. It Loaded all my songs and retained what was already there. The problem is that when I play the news songs I loaded they play with static behind it, and only when the song is playing. In between songs there is no static. I played the song off of the computer and there is no static.

If you have recently upgraded to Windows Media Player 11, either manually or via Windows Update, this could be the problem.

In this case, uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from Add or Remove Programs, in Control panel.
Also uninstall Windows Media 11 runtime.
This will roll back to Windows Media Player 10.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are already using Media Player 10, this problem could also be caused by corrupt firmware on the player.
make sure you have Philips Device Manager installed, from the product CD.
Run Philips Device Manager, and select the restore or repair option, then follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-flash the corrupt firmware. All tracks on the player will be deleted.

Reload a few tracks to test.

Sansa MP3 player.

There are only two things I can think that would cause this:
(1) The players file allocation table has been corrupted. The solution to this is refomat the drive and reupload the music.
(2) That the software that you are using has changed the format. This happened when I installed ITunes. It converted the music all to another format. If this is the case, copy the other player back to your drive and then upload the music back from that player.

No music

Make sure the DRM license on the music files has not recently expired. If the music service subscription from which they came from has expired, the songs will not be usuable until you renew the subscription - this is the cold new reality of the Mp3 world.

Phillips 8 GB Go Gear

If you clicked "yes" to an Update for your device, then all your songs have been wiped. Firmware Upgrades and Repairs (whether performed knowingly or unknowingly), will delete all songs from your GoGear.

Alternatively, when you have automatic synchronization set up for Windows Media Player, then re-syncing to the device when the songs don't exist on your computer will also cause the GoGear to be wiped. It's a feature of WMP that I don't like.

Your ilo should've come with a disc. That disc should install windows media for you. You can't put music onto it without windows media.
