Thanks for reply. There are no pieces of paper anywhere around the fuser unit. This machine was working ok until the duplex unit was used, then kept jamming up (every page) and has always shown code 382 ever since.

Thanks for replying. Do you mean the fuser unit ? Do you think the paper sensor may be damaged in any way ?

Have you opened it up and checked for even little paper bits in the paper path?

Error 382 refers to a paper jam in the fuser. This element gets extremely hot. You may have to remove the fuser to check for paper underneath it. But wait until the unit has cooled completely!

If you can't see the whole picture on the top image, right-click it and select "View image," or "Save Picture As." Then you can see the complete picture in its original size.

Well, if the printer says "paper jam" when there is no paper jam, I'm suspicious of the sensor.

Try removing the fuser and re-seating it, as shown above (after double-checking inside for paper, which can sometimes get balled up in there.) Sometimes just removing and replacing the components will get the sensors back to normal.

Paper jam

open all door in your printer , front and back. , look for paper stuck inside and remove it. Sometimes small pieces of paper are difficult to be found.
If it is a Laser printer, you will also need to remove the toner and paper try and look for jammed papert underneat.
Once you done, restart the machine.
If you still have paper jam error try unplugging printer from power outlet for 5 minutes then restart.
If you still get error, then either there is paper inside or your printer may be faulty.

I BOUGHT A USED RICOH AFICIO COLOR 3006 COPIER FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA YESTERDAY. WHEN I TURN THE COPIER ON, I GET AN ERROR CODE SC456. WHAT DOES IT MEAN AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

Hi there

The error code 456 - Paper transfer unit position error.
If you cannot find any jammed paper in the unit, you may need a Ricoh service guy to give it just that. A good service

Brothe MFC-240C paper jam error msg won't clear

**, it is not fixed. I followed instructions on Brother web site and was able to find a piece of paper near the printhead, so I removed it. The printer makes a grinding sound when it tries to print and the same paper jam error returns and can't be cleared. I beleive that the printer repair cost will be more expensive than replacing it with a different printer, and it won't be Brother brand. I probably would not be able or have the tools to do any complicated repair job.

Konica Minolta C6500 Error Message

There is a paper somewhere in the copier. Maybe earlier you have a paper jam and one paper or just a part of the paper is still in the copier.

Most likely the paper is near the imaging unit.

HP 4215xi all in one, continues to give the error paper jam, there is no paper jam. I have cleaned all sensors, rollers etc. I have tried a partial and full reset. Any ideas?

Hi,
  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it around so the back of the unit faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you. Figure 2: Removing the rear access door

Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to Buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  1. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  2. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  3. Reinstall the rear access door.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.

The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:
  • Never use paper that is torn or wrinkled.
  • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once (recycling), replace it with new paper.
  • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door. Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can skew if the rear access door is not locked.
  • Every six months to one year, clean the paper feed rollers with a rag lightly moistened with water. Over time the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as they once did.
  • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.
Goodluck..

I have an HP Photosmart 8050 printer that gives me a paper jam message after each print job

Hi,
i,d suggest that the paper sensor is faulty.
try unplugging your printer, and setting it back up.
alternatively, hold down the paper-jam button if it,s flashing.

You prob have a few small pieces of photo paper jammed in the printer somewhere. Try to take something small that you can push through the printer to make sure there is nothing hidden jamming the printer.

This indicates the jam is not clear. Please check all areas including the removable cover on the back (by pinching the 2 squeezable tabs) and pulling out.
