More than likely it is a problem with the inlet control, commonly I have found wear in the throttle linkage can cause this or a faulty sump pressure sensor that is out of calibration.

Press the reset button on the controller. If the same alarm keeps coming back when you run the machine, then the machine is probably operating with low unloaded sump pressure and you will need to find out why. It's likely a false reading, a problem with the inlet valve or the wrong rotation.
If this type of compressor is run for any length of time in the wrong direction you will do damage for sure now if this unit is shut down while it is loaded (producing air) it will push lubricant out of the inlet filter most of the time people hit the emergency stop button to shut it done which is wrong the compressor should be unloaded first which when unloaded the inlet valve will be closed which then the compressor will be running unloaded and can now be shut down using the off button or switch not sure which one you have other reasons why this could happen failing load/unload solenoid usually the vent is plugged or bad minimum pressure check valve
Is this a rotary screw unit? Was it low unloaded sump pressure? If so the most probable cause is the minimum pressure check valve located under the aluminum cap on the seperater tank (oil tank). The check valve piston binds in the housing due to rust, dirt,etc. If you are going to attempt the repair your self I would recommend purchasing rebuild kit before disassembly. If this problem is with a 2475 unit I would look at the pressure switch. If you are saying the unit starts/stops/starts etc and it is equiped with a low oil level switch the oil level is low. fill it to the oil fill plug threads.
I would first look toward the Minimum Pressure check valve. You will have to remove several covers to access. It should be located on the end of the after cooler. Also the blow down valve will cause this problem if it does not close. These units do not have oil pumps and depend on air pressure to push the oil thru the system. When the air pressure drops below 15 psi in the sump the compressor shuts down. Also check the pressure transducer to make sure it's reading correctly. A pressure gage in the discharge line would be OK. Compare the Controller read out to your pressure gage. They should be close but could read 5 PSI or so difference.
