Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1 Digital Camera
I can only suggest that you bang it around more, against your palm or other surface like hot pad, mouse pad, etc. that has some give and see if that undoes the damage (if it is a dis-connection issue). You didn't mention physically damaging it (as in dented) so soft blows and retrying the camera after each attempt may result in it working again. Try blows from different angles and speciffically from the opposite direction of the drop, if you know how it hit (a mark?).
It does sound like it is "hunting" for a sensor signal that it is not getting.

I dont suggest to experiment with the dented lens as there are some plastic gears inside the lens unit, those can be break and if those gears will broken, it will be very difficult to re-find them.
So look for a authorised service center and get the camera repaired. If thay say for replacing the lens unit. You may search for an professional to get the camera repaired.
