Damaged control panel d200

I have a nikon d200, I unfortunately knocked the camera
and the result was the control panel surface as been
damaged, the glass cover is ok, its the coating that
displays the data thats been chipped, is this a problem
that only Nikon can fix? its still under warranty.

I don't understand. A coating doesn't display data. Are you really talking about a surface under the glass?

If the data is still visible what is it you want to accomplish?

Won't be under warranty for accidental damage anyway.

SOURCE: Nikon D200 problem with SIGMA 28-200 lens - works on one D200 and not my other

Sigma lenses sometimes need re-chipping for full compatability with certain Nikon camera. They are usually quite good about doing this gratis.
Try the Sigma on another body at the camera shop or at home (preferably and older AF film camera). If it works then its likely just a chip compatibility issue.

SOURCE: I have a Nikon D200 and the auto focus isn't

There's a small contact area that has to make the electrical contact between the lens and body in order for the autofocus to work. Check this on the body for any damage or corrosion that may keep the connection from happening. There is also a very small mechanical connection between the two pieces - the D200 has the autofocus motor in the body itself - check for a small shaft that may be blocked or damaged as well.

Can a Nikon d200 be Tethered to a laptop

I don't know what you mean with Tethered, but if you mean can I manage your camera on your laptop, you should look for

Camera Control Pro 2 - Full Version (Boxed)
look on the link here, to see your D200 is compatible with that software.

You always need software, when connecting a camera to a computer. Without the software the computer does not know what to do with the device.
Nikon does have other versions of camera control software.

My nikon D200 shows CHA whenever I insert a CF card? How can I fix it? It shows that error even I use a different card.

Dear Sir e_jamandre, probably the connector memory card has one or more bent pins or cracked solder.
The worst thing would be that the memory compression circuit is damaged.
Greetings

D200 will not turn on

Have you checked for dirt in the camera battery compartment. Take some high powered air spray and blow it clean. See if that fixes it.

Nikon D200 Water Damadged

It can be repaired, but usually water-damaged cameras are either worthless or VERY expensive to repair. I should expect that yours is destroyed, since Nikon's D200 is not designed to be waterproof, and has many electronic and steel parts which are very susceptible to being destroyed by the infiltration of water. A good camera shop would give you an estimate for no charge. If they tell you that it is beyond repair, you might take it to another shop for a second opinion. Is it possible for you to claim the damage on any insurance? You might check with your insurance agent just to be sure.

Camera (D200) no longer sees that the diaphragm lock is on. If I jiggle the diaphragm ring it works for amoment. How do I fix this? Thanks

With the lens off, look at the camera mount area. If you are looking straight at the mount, there is a small tab sticking out at about 7oclock on the outside edge of the mount ring. The tab is spring loaded and may be damaged. You should be able to push the tab toward the base of the camera and it will snap back if functioning properly. If it feels loose or doesn't spring back, then switch that ab controls is not being activated.

Exposure button not working

Have you done the firmware update? If not the update is available here: CLICK HERE FOR MACINTOSH or CLICK HERE FOR PC.

If that didn't solve your issue, you may have to go to an authorized Nikon dealer to have the camera reset. The internal battery cannot be serviced by untrained persons. I would also suggest that going forward, you carry your camera inside your coat when you're outside in cold weather, since electronics are easily damaged (especially software) by frost and / or water vapor which can very easily damage parts of your camera (hardware and software) in any weather.
