If its making noise when you put the lid down like a grinding then its probably your coupler unless its a front load. If its completely dead check your lid switch. If you click on my profile and go to my tips I have complete instructions for checking and replacing your drive coupler.
Good luck _MJ_

Have old kenmore elite he3 washer. Have wet laundry after spin out. Have checked ball be low drum, replaced strainer, pump motor, cleaned all hoses. Did a test run in the drain and spin cycle. For like 7...

If the washer is taking more water during spin, then most likely it is thinking the water level is low for the load. It is a smart washer and tries to adjust water according to load. This can mean the level sensor is giving wrong sensor. I would try to run the washer with a cleaning agent (not bleach) available from specialist stores or washing machine retailers.
Also observe if the drain pump is running all through the spin cycle. If not that is likely causing water to remain. But controller is thinking there is no water and not starting the pump when required.

You should be able to locate the parts in these diagrams.

Clothes are still drenched after Rinse cycle, what is wrong?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

If the Washer spins the problem points to either clogged hoses to and from the pump or a defective pump itself.

First see the following for how to "replace" the pump.
http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=134

Check the hoses for obstructions and manually check to see if the pump is blocked and/or if it will turn.

The water want drain so the spin cycle can start

You either have a bad pump or one direction of your motor is bad. Kenmore washers are direct drive machines. The motor turns one way to wash and the other to pump and spin. The pump is east to replace after you remove the case. If you would like to remove it so that you can find what is wrong, reply back and I'll walk you through it.

Kenmore 80 series will agitate but not spin or let water out.

Hi, I know washer had a party, he just need a dancing partner, joking, that's a common problem, when machine is not properly level, you should used spirit level, to level machine, after leveling machine, place both hands on machine, and try to rock it from left to right, forward and backward, and it should not have any play, if there's play adjust legs to compensate, water has to be pumped out first before machine spins, rhere's something wrong with water pump, maybe some fabric stuck in pump impeller, or maybe wires disconnected from water pump, remove back of machine and check connection to water pump, check for kink hoses, visual check, if wire were remove, connect to water pump, you're smart. good luck.

Kenmore washer fills during spin cycle and doesn't drain completely

HI, this is just a slight clog or faulty drain pump. check the following areas.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

Kenmore elite washer leaks water in spin cycle

You need to replace your pump. Make sure you have the washer either on something that will absorb water, or fix it outside/garage. Because these pumps hold extra water and that is why it is not recommended to keep them outside to do laundry in colder climates. The water can freeze in the pump and wreck it. Good luck. They actually are pretty easy to replace.
