I have been told that a Bose radio purchased in the US will not work in Europe as it will not find 'even' frequency radio channels (USA are all odd). This suprises me as if the radio truely searches for a signal are Bose saying that their radio skips over all even frequencies and only searches odd frequencies? I am keen to know what the answer is as I would like to buy a wave radio in the US and take it to the UK. Purely because it is 40% cheaper than in the US than in the UK. Has anyone ever taken a Bose radio to the UK or Europe and got it to tune in to even channels????

Do you use the external FM antena ?
there is no software to change, yes there is a difference in the ranges on the FM waveband between US and Euro, but it should still work, however a quick call to bose bv service might be insightfull, and helpful

Actually, I've done the conversion on a USA WaveRadio1 Series II (1996 version with PCB 179551), now converted to EU-spec.
It requires SMD soldering, SMD parts, and other parts generally not widely available to non-technicians. The EQ is now 50us, the FM stepping is 50kHz, the AM stepping is 9kHz, and the unit accepts direct mains voltage of 220VAC.
It is NOT a simple procedure, and I can do the conversion for any interested parties. Contact at yachadm AT gmail.com

I am having very poor FM reception with my Bose Radio wave system. Is there an external antenna that can be attached?

The power cord is the antenna and it should be stretched out straight for best possible reception. You could experiment with re-orienting the Bose, too.

There is a threaded 75-ohm coaxial FM External connector. You could probably get a compatible FM antenna at an electronics store.

See the manual, Page 10

After placing several discs in the bose wave radio

Buy a quality CD radio. Bose is not quality. It is overpriced overhyped so-so quality stuff. Repairs by Bose will cost more than a better quality replacement.

Is it possible to change from US fm to european fm radio?

this would involve basically gutting the Bose and replacing the circuts with the European market equivalent. however, since a bose contains Propriatory Hardware, it may have denied internal access. I suggest you locate a CE approved version.

How can I get the Bose Wave radio to work in Europe??

Yes. The tuner spacing option should do this. If it's a Wave Music System or a Wave Radio II, go into the 'setup menu' and look for 'tuner spacing'. -If it's older, you may want to call Bose for a solution.

How do I make my alarm on my Bose Wave Radio play the FM Radio instead of the usual beeping noise?

Hi,

When you choose the alarm button on the back row of buttons in the middle you get 4 options, no alarm, beeping, music, beeping & music. These are represented by icons on your front panel the note and the ))) sign.
