You have a problem with the STK convergence modules. They're on the center circuit board attached to an aluminum heat sink that's about 8" long and 6" tall. You may be able to recreate the problem (hour glass effect) by gently moving the heat sink (which the modules are connected to). This gives the hour glass effect on the picture and the advanced convergence screen. This is an indication that the modules pins aren't solidly connected (meaning soldered) properly. Remove the circuit board and clean the old solder off & resolder the modules pins to the circuit board reconnected the board and then retest by again pushing on the heat sink. The "factory" job was good enough for 3-4 years but the heat (and these modules do create a lot of heat) and stress created from repeated use eventually takes it's toll, weakens the pin connections and our problem occurs. take the appropriate cautions working around the high voltage of the set & use a non-conducting piece of wood to push the heat sink when doing tests.
If soldering doesn't help, then the modules have died and need replacing. Don't buy the $10 cheap ones. Most of them have an upgraded version that is stronger. Also look for any burned resistors in the vicinity of the modules.
Best of luck, hope ya fix it.

Im having colour problems with my phillips 43in hdtv blue and red lines across the screen tried to aligne but didnt help any ideas wat i can do

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Rainbow colours on the screen

The projector is starting to go out in it. Depending on your financial situation, you can take it to a shop to have it looked at, or replace the TV. Depending on how long this has been happening, the Pioneer projectors usually last about 100 hours once this happens before they burn out completely.

Color distortion and arched picture

It is problem of failure of convergence ICs or related circuit. Please confirm model number of your TV that is Sony KP-57WS500 to help you out.
It would be nice if you could past TV snap shot here for easy understanding.
Thank you.

Krazy colours

Hi if picture is of it could be convergnce ic and that would require a tv tech cost is 250.00.

But the arching noise is usually your high voltage arching from fly back or spiltter you could take off back be careful it is very high voltage only do if you now this stuff, and you will see it arching when it is on and where ever the arc is coming from is the problem the fly back is a large transformer and is black with red high voltage lead coming out of it the leads could be bad to.
the splitter is where all the leads go into from tubes. i hope this helps cost to fix for tv shop is 350.00. thanks doctor video
