Orange toothed band come out of slot at back of ink tray

Hi all. this is my post. My R265 has been more or less faultless for a year but had a major prob arose yesterday. The cartridge tray moves on runners and an orange toothed band. Now for sum reason the tray jammed and the orange band managed to come out of its slot on the back of the cartridge tray. Is there anyway of getting it back in as there's not much room to see or get my fingers in. Any idaes for me to fix myself or is it a shop job?

Cheers in advance

    Scrap that post. It's been binned as the band has actually snapped and taken a wheel with it. I've borrowed my bosses R265 for a bit.

5 orange flashes

Hi,
5 time orange flash indicate Cartridge Error or Print Head Error.
1) Reseat the Print Head
  • Confirm that the printer is powered on.
  • Open the paper output tray and top cover. Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.
  • After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.
  • Remove all ink tanks.
  • Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head.
  • Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.
  • Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.
  • Close the inner cover and top cover. Check that each ink tank is installed in the correct position.
2) Reseat the Printer
  • Turn the printer off with the Power button.
  • Disconnect the data cable from the printer
  • Unplug the printer's power cord for approx. 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.

I've just put in all new inks and now ther is no comunication from my lap top to the printer. ive turned it off.. and the green light keeps flashing along with the orange intermittently,, Its driving to...

Hi,

I suspect that the reason that there is no communication between your laptop and printer is because the printer will not switch online. This is further confirmed by one of the flashing lights. This is a standard feature if the built-in diagnostics of most current printers tells it that something is wrong.

Since as you posted/described "I've just put in all new inks and now..." was when the problem started, pls verify:
1. the ink cartridges are seated properly at their assigned slots;
2. most ink cartridges when new have a sticker cover of some sort to protect the electronic/contact pins. Pls verify that they were removed;
3. the cover/panel doors are securely lock in place;
4. verify that the USB cable/connectors are attached;
5. you have installed the correct model of ink cartridges, they are original and not generic/replacements/refills;
6. all others are where they should be, paper in tray, slides extended and nothing out of the ordinary;

If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, pls post back with the brand and model of your printer. it might be of further help if you can post your laptop's brand & model as well as the operating system.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Need to clean waste ink pad on epson r265 printer

You need to remove the Paper support tray, printer cover front cover usb housing and right and left housing then remove the waste ink tray inside the tray you will find about 12 pads that need taking out you can just replace them with new ones or wash and dry them and re-install them the latter is very messy then refitt everything and then you will need the service utility to restet the printer If you need further help email me at drummerboy36uK@yahoo.com or try me on msn messenger using thedrummerboy53@hotmail.com

Hi If you are using compatable inks try taking the ink cartridge out and put it back in again try this three or four times to see if it will accept it if not try a different cartridge you can sometimes get a duff one The earlier models have a different cartridge than the later models epson altered them and changed the chip

AEG LAVAMAT 74620 Update Gears on the fill tray have jumped. The primary and idler have to be installed correctly and are fool proof but the third, half gear, needs setting. Can you please supply pic or...

Found this on another site (fixed4free.com) posted by Dave in Jan 2009:

This is one of those things where a picture would be worth a thousand words, but as I can't put pictures on this site, the words will have to do!
- Turn the orange cog anti-clockwise as far as it will go, (putting the nozzle to direct the water to the conditioner drawer)
- Look closely at the orange cog and you'll see that the last-but-one tooth at each end of the row is shorter than the rest. Looking from above and standing at the front of the machine, I call the rightmost tooth on this cog number 1, the short tooth number 2 etc. (my cog has 17 teeth)
- Position the white cog so that (looking from above) the leftmost tooth on the top (incomplete) row of this cog is between teeth 2 and 3 of the orange cog. This should be such that if the white cog rotates anti-clockwise it will turn the orange cog.
Now the difficult bit:
- The shaft that the yellow cog fits on has four vertical 'webs' running down it. Look closely and you'll see that one of these is bigger than the other three. As you would expect, if you look carefully at the centre of the yellow cog it has three small slots and one bigger one spaced around the hole.
- This shaft can be VERY CAREFULLY rotated if you pull it gently upwards against it's spring and wiggle it while twisting it. NEVER force it, the cogs underneath are VERY fragile. If it won't turn, just let go, and try again.
- Look again at the white cog, and you'll see that two of the teeth on the lower (complete) set of teeth have no slot between them, they make a tooth that is 'double width'.
- Look at the yellow cog and you'll see that it has a 'double width' slot on it's lower row.
- The challenge is to rotate the yellow cog's shaft so that you can fit the yellow cog on it, aligning the double-width slot on the yellow cog with the big tooth on the white cog. This is just a case of trial and error, but is the key to getting everything back together.

COMPLICATED BIT OF EXPLANATION!!
The yellow cog only ever turns clockwise and the white cog is a clever bit of engineering allowing AEG to move the nozzle (orange cog) backwards and forwards across the five positions.
The yellow cog turns the orange cog anti-clockwise until it runs out of teeth, then the white cog turns the orange cog the other way.
After a full rotation of the yellow cog, the orange one has moved clockwise to the stain-treatment position and the by-pass beyond, then anti-clockwise back to the conditioner position.

Check status monitor if empty or low:
Replace if empty ect:

Soak the cartridge nozzles upright in Flush Solution for 6 hours dry and retry , make up a A4 Paper colour printing page with each colour band about 1" high x 8" wide and print out 4 - 6 pages checking which colour band is poor:

Keep printing if improvement noticed:
if not
Resoak the offending cartridges and repeat:
also can
Use cleaning cartridge on offending colour slot/s then retry:

Dont use the head cleaning utility to much as it is programmed to disable your printer after a pre-set number of cleans and will have to be serviced:
