Question about Edirol UA-4FX External Sound System
I m running Windows XP Service Pack2 with in built sound card on the motherboard. The problem is my system does not display sound every time the computer starts. Sometimes sound properties in Control Panel is disabled then I cannot move the slider of the volume. Also whenever it shows the sound properties I cannot hear the sound after increasing the volume full. My speakers are alright and drivers are up to date still I don't know what is the problem. I had also reinstall Windows XP still there is same problem. Details are :
Intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Kindly solve my problem.
Try this , Plug in your speaker to your desire sound card. If it is BUilt in Maybe AC97. If is an add-on then you plug it on the add-on sound card.
and then go to control panel ..see pictures,...
On the default device change the or select the device you are using and then click OK. Just do this incase you have multi device.

Some systems do a speaker autodetect - and if your speakers are not powered on when the system boots, the sound may not function until a reboot
Another possible issue could be due to bad drivers that sometimes load, and sometimes not. I usually find that Microsoft's drivers are less than ideal, and in many cases just may not work. And onboard sound may not work properly if the chipset drivers are not loaded as well. Did the machine or motherboard come with a CD? If so, put it in and let it run to install all of the drivers. If not, we need to determine the exact model of motherboard to find where we can download the drivers from. On the motherboard there should be either a model number and version silkscreened onto the board itself, or a label, generally with a bar code as well as numbers. Sometimes this label is on the board itself, and sometimes it can be on top of one of the headers for USB or the parallel port if it has one. Post these numbers or any other model information you can find.
