Select a lower number of pixels [ ] (0.3M

I have a fujifilm finepix s9000 and if trying to set my pics to high resolution. I have the quality set at 9m f but even when I set it to 9m N it still shows my pictures with a 72dpi. I need higher than...

The DPI refers only to the printed resolution, and that value can be set to any number you like. It has nothing to do with the actual resolution of the photo, and it can be changed without affecting a single pixel in the image.

How do I change the resolution on a Samsung SL605 camera?

You're looking at the dots per inch (DPI) setting. The DPI is an output specification, used when outputting the photo (either on paper or a computer screen) and is irrelevant as far as the camera is concerned. The camera fills in a value simply because it can't leave it blank.

You can take the same photo and print it out as a 4x6 and as a 8x10 and you'll get different DPI settings because the photo is covering more inches in the second case than in the first. For example, if you have a picture that's 3000 pixels in the long dimension, you'll be printing it as 500 DPI in the first case and 300 DPI in the second.

THE CAMERA IS CLICKING PICS IN THE LOW RESOLUTION MODE BECAUSE WHEN I GOT THEIR PRINTOUTS THEY ARE BLURRED

open the menu in camea mode and change the resolution to a higher number and take some photos. standard resolution should give you a good looking 4 by 6 in photo, a higher resolution should give you good 8 by 10 photo prints, if not, then something else is going on with yoru camera

Resolution

Many cameras will take pictures at only 72 dpi. Changing the resolution causes the camera to change the size of the picture in terms of pixel dimension (ie 800x600 vs 640x480) but always at 72 dots per inch. A photo editing program like Photoshop can change the resolution to whatever you need.

set the camera on photo mode
then press trash button, it should display the resolutions

Canon Rebel xti vs Photoshop!

What you are seeing is the difference between "pixel count resolution" and "embedded resolution". So in your example 2272*1704 is the actual pixel count resolution as recorded by the camera & 72 is the embedded resolution that tells the software (in this case photoshop) what the intended use of the picture will be. 72 ppi is the default for web pictures. You can change this in photoshop by going to the "Image" tab & select image size. The window that opens will show you the pixel dimensions i.e. pixel count resolution and the document size & resolution 72. You just change it to 300 for printing. You can change the default to 300 by going "edit", "preferences", "units & rulers" and setting the values for "new document preset resolutions". This is a complex subject, I recommend looking at the following web page: http://www.fotofinish.com/resources/centers/photo/resolution.htm Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
