Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My sister yanked the main plug loose from my computer the other day and it's been acting up ever since, but it never gave me a problem with playing my CD-ROM until a couple of hours ago. My computer froze, and I restarted it. First I tried to reinstall my CD-ROM but the computer would'nt let me. Then I uninstalled some files including my CD-ROM game, but my computer won't read my disc, not even after I unsuccessfully tried to reinstall the CD-ROM again.

Take the Cd drive out and take off the top. Look inside for a tiny glass cover. Looks like a small light bulb. Clean the fine layer of dust off this glass and you just might be back in business. keever

These are not meant to be removed they clip down the screw so that it cannot move back and forth. You have to remove the front cover and slide out the devices by lifting the tabs on top of the screws so it can slide out and slide in and lock again. John

My emachines4210 tower won't switch on no matter how long I hold the button in!

If it is plugged in to a working outlet, you probably need a new power supply.

I dont know what happened my sister was playing

The problem sounds like the cable is not connected properly either on the screen or the computer, so my advice is to re-insert the cord at both the computer and the screen, this may fix your issue, if not post back here and ill give you a hand

Where can i find the settings page so that i can enable the UpNp ??

You can install Universal Plug and Play support in Windows XP by using the Add or Remove Programs tool in Control Panel. If Universal Plug and Play support is installed, when a Universal Plug and Play device is added to the network, the Windows-based computer acts as a control point for that device, and notification is provided on the taskbar that a new device is available.;en-us;323713

Have you already asked your sister on the HDD password that she had set on the laptop before she gave it to you? Only your sister may know it since she was the owner of the laptop before.
