Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)
I recently installed a Belkin F5D8233-4 router and it installed easily, and my I pod Touch connected through wifi. When I added security through the router set up, I can no longer connect the I pod. I have tried the various settings, but no luck with the router as a secure network. When I change the settings to un-secured, I touch works again. I assume it is a problem getting both settings right, but so far its been frustrating. Thanks
What I would try is while the wifi is unsecure go on the computer and open up the browser you are using, on your router the default ip address is 192.168.2.1
type the router default ip address in the browser where you would normally type a web address www.google.com
Logging into the Router
You will see the Router’s home page in your browser window. The home page is visible to any user who wants to see it. To make any changes to the Router’s settings, you have to log in. Clicking the
“Login” button or clicking on any one of the links on the home page will take you to the login screen. The Router ships with no password entered. In the login screen, leave the password blank and click the
“Submit” button to log in.
Configuring the Wireless Network Settings
The “Wireless” tab lets you make changes to the wireless network settings. From this tab you can make changes to the wireless network name or Service Set Identifier (SSID), operating channel, encryption security settings, and configure the Router to be used as an access point.
Setting up an Allow Access List
1. Select the “Allow” radio button (1) to begin setting up a list of
computers allowed to connect to the wireless network.
2. Next, in the “MAC Address” field that is blank (3), type in the
MAC address of the wireless computer you want to be able to
access the wireless network, then click “<<Add” (4).
3. Continue to do this until all of the computers you want to add
have been entered.
4. Click “Apply Changes” (5) to finish.
this will allow only the wireless device you select to access your router.
