Question about Daewoo DV-6T955B DVD Player/VCR
My name is Kate and am having problems with the DVD player of the DV-6T955B product. The TV is on and after I load the machine it reads "no Disk." It won't play. The problem is that there is a disk in the machine. What am I doing wrong? Did I break it? Your advice would be great. Any free advice would be appreciated
This DVD/VCR combo unit must have a weak laser, because I have the same
issue. We have another DVD player in the house, and that machine plays
DVDs way better than our Daewoo plays them. If there are ANY marks,
finger prints, scratches, smudges -- whatever -- it does one of 3 things: 1) plays with many skips or long pauses and jumps, 2) refuses to play at all, or 3) refuses to even see the disc.
I clean the disc with a VERY, VERY soft cloth & rubbing alcohol. Also, got one of those CD/DVD player cleaner discs for the machine too. If you rent the DVD, ask if the store can PROFESSIONALLY repair the disc (if it has scratches) before you take the disc home to your machine. Don't bother buying those home repair machines, trust me; they are a ripoff.
OH yeah! Almost forgot to tell you -- make sure that you don't cover up the air holes of the outer case. The machine will heat up way too fast, then it won't play anything at all (including VHS tapes), if these air holes are covered up. The air holes are on the top and both sides.
Of course you know that this machine is limited to only playing these formats: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, VCD (Video CD), and SVCD (Super Video CD). This machine was not built to play DIVX or XVID formatted CD/DVDs, therefore it will not see them either.

I have the same model and i can put a disk in and it will read it then the next time he same disc and it says no disc. when this happens I use a dvd cleaner disc, ( its a DVD with a little brush glued to it) it seems to help. and I know this goes against everything you have ever learned about discs. but sometimes I find if the disc is to clean and shiny, the 6t955b has trbl reading it, rub the disc on your shirt or pants and make some lite swirl marks on it. not sure why but it works

If your DVD is less than a year old, still under manufacturers warranty.
The problem you have "no Disk" is because the laser is not reading the DVDs.
