According to the user manual (available here: http://www.refurbups.com/KB-M-Matrix) this can only be reset by using the PowerChute software available from www.apc.com and requires the unit to be connected to a computer.

How to reset date after replacing batteries for apc matrix 3000(mx3000pe)ups

First you need to get a APC serial cable from APC. Next connect it to a com port on your computer and the back of the APC. On your computer start Hyperterminal. Enter a file name. Anything will do. Slect your com port. Set the following setting to 2400 data bits and none for flow control. Leave the other setting as is. Hit enter twice and enter APC for user and APC for the password. The program will come up. From there it will be easy to set whatever you want. OH!!! make sure your UPS has a network card installed. If not you can't change anything.

Matrix 3000 "bottom fan fail" need a replacement fan. APC said they don't have in stock and is discontinued.

The APC Matrix-UPS 3000 Isolation Unit IU bottom fan APC part number appears to be 490-0006-A. There are three OEM parts that APC appears to have used:
NMB Technologies 4715KL-05W-B30-P00
Japan Servo CNDC24B7-34
Sunon KDE2412PMB1-6A
But any fan that has the following specs should work:
119mm x 119mm x 38mm, plastic (black) 94V-0, ball bearing, 2-wire, 24 VDC (9.0V min, 10V to 27.6V), 2800 RPM, 80 CFM min, 41 dbA max

Have you change the battery? Note: Matrix UPS need to be calibrate after changing batteries or reset the Smartcell communication board. to make sure that the UPS would detect that you already replace it with the new battery

Could you tell me how many batteries a matrix UPS 5000 has in it as well as an APC Smart UPS Smart cell

A UPS 500 uses two smartcell batteries. As for the APC Smart UPS, there are different models, but most UPS's will generally use two batteries.

No battery communications

Hi,

You will get that message when the communications cable is not hooked up. It looks like a phone line and daisy chains from one battery to another and ends at the Matrix Control unit. If you have those installed and it still says no communication the system need service.

If you have a volt meter you can check the voltage from each battery at the plug. It should be 48 volts or more, usually on a fresh battery pack it will read 54.0+ volts.

Hope this helps,
Dean
