Feeds two blank sheets then jams

I recently changed my toner in my HL-5140 printer that had been working great up until I changed the toner. Now the only thing I can get it to do is to feed two sheets completely through and feed a third 1/2 way through. I have tried to put brand new toner in as well as new drum, tried resetting. It doesn't matter what I send to it from my pc...one page or ten it feeds through the first two and then stops 1/2 way through on the third sheet and gives me the obviously paper jam error.. Any body have any ideas... thanks kindly

My printer feeds two sheets at a time with printing on bothand then the second sheet gets stuck and has to be pulled out. When you pull the sheet out, it comes out looking like an accordion. The toner is not brand-new and the toner light is not blinking, nor is the drum light.

I've removed the toner and put it in again, along with shutting off the printer and starting it again. It still jams.

The fact that you changed the toner cartridge should clue you. I have 2 5140s, or rather I have a 5140 and a MFC that uses a 5140 or its clone as the printing part. So, I can swap printer cartridges. The cartridge I bought from Inkjetsuperstore.com jammed constantly and spit out pages with a dark edge. They were great in sending me a new one very quickly, but the new one also jams the same way. Swapping for another knockoff cartridge I had in the MFC cured the problem. Moral of story: All cartridges are not created equal. Brother charges too much, so I am likely to try different knockoff vendors on eBay, but if I didn't have the option to swap and needed the printer all the time, I would go with Brother cartridges. Im pretty sure that the printer is broken... If you really want to spend twice as much on fixing your printer go ahead, but i sugest calling the company and asking for assistance they will probably send you a new 1 and then you just send them your odl 1 thats what i did..

After printing several hundred sheets, status light went red. There was no paper jam. Let printer "cool down" overnight. Status light still red. Drum has never been replaced. Toner light is on. However, in...

Well, if the toner light is on, you're probably out of toner and the only reason it ran, was because it was low but not completely depleted.

Try new toner drum off of Ebay or Amazon for the best prices for your brother printer.

HL-5140 model. the paper light is flashing and

Hi Patricia,

Try to do a factory reset on the server.

Whilst the printer is turned off, press and hold the GO button as you plug the printer on to the socket. Notice that all lights on the printer will turn on as well. Continue pressing the go button until the light for the toner goes up and once its up, release the button. Next, hold down the Go button again until the "Yellow Status" light turns on once on, release the Go button. Wait for the printer to initialize and see if the error went away.

Hope this helps.

The red lite indicates one of the following needs to be looked at:

Cover open (Front cover) Close the front cover.

Cover open (Jam clear cover) Close the jam clear cover of the fuser unit.

Memory full - Press the go button.

Print overrun - Press the go button.

Clean drum unit - Clean the corona wire.

My HL-5140 paper is not coming out after printing.

Hi there
HAve you seen a small coil spring with 2 lugs come out of the machine? If you look inside the printer cavity you should see one of these springs either side of the internal black frame work.aboutThese should be about 1 1/2" into the machine just close to a clear lens on either side. If one of these is missng the drum/cartridge unit is not properly aligned and will cause jamming as you have described.

Failing that you have either a sensor problem or a faulty drum unit.

Please let me know and I'll try yo help further.

Cheers

Non stop paper jams

I had this same problem. I finally noticied that the problem occurred consistently on the right side of the paper feed. I discovered that a little part along the right side of my drum unit (just inside the paper feed area) had disconnected and was loose inside the drum unit itself. Once this little part was placed back into it's rightful place, VOILA! Problem solved! Hope this helps!
