Samsung monitor has "streaks"

2 year old Samsung 931B computer monitor has streaks, (shadowing, trails,) that go to the right of any image or text (anything) on the screen...as if everything was racing to the left leaving a trail behind it. Gets better and worse

I also have this image issue. It is most noticeable on a desktop with a single colour. In the default Windows blue desktop, all application windows seem to smear towards the right as though they are moving. I have changed the settings on both the monitor and the display card (ATI Radeon X19050 Pro: resolution, refresh rate) but haven't corrected the problem.

Same as above: shadowing to the right on my monitor....have tried to push buttons on monitor in front with no help at all. Started to clear up, then came back again.

I have the exact same problem. Tried to optimize the display using my NVIDIA driver. The brightness wouldn't adjust into range, and the gamma adjustments were all way off. Nothing fixed the streaking.

I have a similar problem with a Samsung 940nw flat panel monitor. I do not know if it is a problem with dust or overheating... What seems to provide a temporary fix is to use a can of compressed air and blow through the vents at the top of the panel while laying it flat (MAKE SURE THAT ONLY AIR COMES OUT AND NOT THE LIQUID... HOLD THE CAN PROPERLY)..

Try connecting with a pin cable(the thicker one) and set the monitor on digital

LaurieEm posted a solution which seems to work for me (in addition to some other stuff, read my problem description) for this here http://www.fixya.com/users/laurieem

Try re-plugging your LCD monitor's VGA connection. It may be a case of corrosion on the pins or bad puggin of the cable. The problem is also reduced by using compressed air to blow out the cicuitry in the back of the monitor to remove dust. Both of these seem to work, and if you can't solve the problem totally with one, try the other one as well.

Just unplug the monitor and replug it after a few seconds, My streaks disappeared, It works like the degaussing button which got rid of built up static.

My 2 year old Syncmaster 740N often has multiple faint images behind text in any program and multiple faint desktop icons making it look "smeared"; some days worse than others; resolution is correct at...

Well in monitor you can do one thing - disconnect the monitor cable*(VGA Cable) from the tower and chk still if u have the same faint screen that means monitor gone bad if not than uninstall the Grapics Driver and shut down computer... if u have internet than restart and go to device manager ( Run - devmgmt.msc) under display adapter right click on grapics name and update driver.

Monitor cold start issue only as #2 monitor

The start up problem is common and will only get worse. Call Samsung as these monitors have a 3-year warranty. No receipt? They will accept your word regarding your purchase. I have two that failed exactly the same way. I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and they gave me the choice of an exchange pair sent directly to my house (requiring a temporary credit card deposit) or by having the exchange pair sent to the UPS store where I would swap out my bad units. No receipt. They merely asked me when I purchased it so they could have it for their records. Manufacture dates such as your (March '06) and a purchase of September '06 are not far fetched at all. .

Samsung 931B monitor - shadowing

I have the same monitor, and twice I've experienced this exact problem. In my case, the video connectors have relaxed. If I wiggle the cable, I can make it better or worse, so it's time to disconnect, reseat. I don't know if it will work for you, but it's free!

Text on screen trailing to the right

Check the VGA plug and lead between the monitor and computer.

Does it get worse or better while you move the lead around?
