Question about Televison & Video
Televison clicks on and off with no picture. will not stay on. can it be fixed? if yes, how. is it worth fixing. tv is 9 years old. thanks, maria
Picture tubes generally have a life of about 10 years, but I have seen
them last much longer. Yes, it can most likely be repaired, but may not
be cost effective. Taking apart a TV can be very hazzardous as there is
very high voltage present even when not plugged in and it can Kill!
Common problems would include the Power Supply circuit or the
Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT).
The parts are relativly inexpensive, but service technitian fees are high. It is not recommended that you attempt a TV repair yourself unless you are Extremely familiar with what not to touch inside!
