Canon PowerShot A520 - trouble transferring pix from cam to cpu

My canon powershot a520 used to automatically upload pictures to my computer when plugged in w/a usb, and now it won't. the last time this happened i learned that when the batteries are low it won't upload and changing the batteries worked. this time it won't work, even with new batteries. the computer is saying "cannot detect camera. check connection to camera, then retry." i don't know what else i can do. i restarted, changed batteries, plugged and unplugged...please help!

I have same problem plus Zoombrowser in endless loop waiting for upload, when usb lead disconnected it returns message 'camera disconnected' or similar. Icon of A520 shows in the 'My Computer' removable devices, but, when I click on get pictures, message ' device in use by another program' comes up.

If TuedayBabe's solution doesn't work you might like to try this: Used my "Windows Update" application and ran it-Camera was "plugged in" with my USB cable while I ran the update ( camera was off ). Must have been related to the driver for my Canon. Whatever it was-it fixed it. I had the exact same probs as above- and it WAS a driver problem-tried to go to the Canon site and download the latest-no joy-but this definitely worked for me!

Hi, I know the solution!!
You have to reformatt the memory card.
You go into the orange - tools (set up).
Look for FORMAT.

Warning!!! : Any pictures that you do have WILL NOT BE SAVE OR RECOVERED. But you're camera will download images after you have formatted the memory card. It's a corruption that has happened through the memory card.

Incompatibility canon camera powershot a520 and windows7

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

How do i save the picture once i zoom it in? i have a canon powershot a520

You can't do that in the camera. You need to import the picture into an editing program and crop the picture.

You probably changed a setting or were taking photos in low light. If you take a photo in the middle of the day, in full-automatic mode, is it still hazy? Maybe you got something on your lens?

Replacement parts for canon powershot a520????

I have a "broken" A520 that needs a new LCD. I really don't want to spend another $90 to get it fixed so may be willing to sell it for parts. Let me know. I don't know about any guide for disassembly however.
