Dymo LetraTag purchased new 3 days ago. Printed 30 labels and now will only print a faint outline of tops of letters. Have removed batteries & connected to elect., also replaced label cassette with new..continues to do same...what to do? thanks , gladlove
Ours does the same. We have had it for a year and now the print is very faint and skips letters. Is there an ink cartridge to change? I thought since it was thermal then there wouldn't be a cartridge. Ours does the same. We have had it for a year and now the print is very faint and skips letters. Poor Print Quality from Electronic Labelmaker
Question
I have an electronic labelmaker that is printing poorly. The print on the label is either very light, incomplete, or striped. How can I resolve this?
Answer
Proceed with the solutions listed below if you have an electronic labelmaker. If you have a LabelWriter printer that is printing poorly, click here. Solution 1: Replace the existing batteries with a new/fresh set of alkaline batteries. The print
head requires a significant amount of battery power to ensure proper
printing on the label. Light print on the label may be an indication
that the batteries need to be replaced. Solution 2: Replace the existing tape cassette with a new tape cassette. Light printing may be an indication of bad label stock. Solution 3: Using
the special brush supplied with your labelmaker (located on the inside
cover of the cassette compartment) or a cotton swab with a soft solvent
(e.g. rubbing alcohol), carefully clean the transporter roller and print head. Dust, dirt, or glue may accumulate on the rubber transport roller or print head inside the cassette compartment and adversely affect print quality. If the solutions listed above do not resolve the problem, please contact DYMO Technical Support to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number. LetraTag label makers are thermal printers, so they don't use ink - just batteries and LetraTAG tapes. When the print starts to fade it's time to put new batteries in.
You will need to contact Dymo at 1-800-640-6944 to inquire about the LetraTAG print roller as it is not available online. You can contact them Between Monday to Friday: 9am - 5:30 pm Eastern
All you need to do is CHANGE THE BATTERIES! This is a thermal printer that does not use ink, BUT...when the batteries are old/weak they will not generate enough voltage to heat the thermal cartridge paper properly, resulting in faint, poorly printed letters.
1. Replace the batteries (use only alcalines)
2. See if the tape is correctly inserted.
3. Clean the printer head
4. Replace the tape with a new one.
5. Check the contrast settings
Hold down the shift button and press the letter V. Everything printed above the letters on the background of the keypad can be printed by holding down the shift key and pressing they letter key.
Hope that helps.
If you use the "dynmo letratag 2000", just press the shift button (the green arrow button) and then the letter "N" (above that letter you should see the text "2=").
That will add a carriage return on your current position and the following text will appear on the second line when printed.
