These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
Tom do not seem to overwrite the existing map file. So before trying to install the map, you need to delete the folder that contains the map. (It is important to read the next part before you delete the map folder).Once you have connected your TomTom to thecomputer, close the TomTom home window. Double click on my computer. You will see the TomTom hard drive as a drive (like you see the CD drive). Double click on that . Once the folders of the TomTom hard drive opens, look for a folder named USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P. (Please note: this name is for American continent. For others, this name will be different). Right click on it. click properties. Check whether the size of this folder is approximately around 1.3 GB to 1.5 GB. This is just to make sure we have the correct folder. After confirming this is the map folder, copy this folder to your computer for back up purpose. Once you have it safely in your computer, delete this folder from the TomTom hardrive. Go back to TomTom home software. Use the map guarantee to update/Upgrade the new map. You will see this time around the installation completes without a problem.
It's so easy to become dependent on this technology isn't it?
If you have access to a computer and the right cables to link your Garmin, try this:
Go to www.garmin.com
They will have a web page dedicated to whatever model you have.
Once you have found that page look for a box in the upper left hand corner that has some links in it.
One of the links will be labeled something like "downloads and updates"
Click on that link and download the most recent software update.
If you're not comfortable with computers, try taking the GPS to West Marine. They have stores all over Florida and most of them will have some tech type guy that can download the update for you. Also you could probably get it done at the Geek Squad desk at Best Buy.
If updating the software doesn't solve the problem then there is probably something wrong with the hardware, and it would have to be sent to Garmin for repair. They recently told me the flat rate to repair my streetpilot 550 was $250.
Check if your rca'c havent got short. Otherwise you must open youtr tv , check where your convergenge ic's is , there is 3 plugs near the convergenge heatsink. Plug it out. if it stays on you must change your convergenge ic;s
