Question about Samsung HCM4215W 42" Rear Projection Television
Ok man , thanks for all your great responses. after doing what you said , there is still no reset factory convergence, and the guy i talked to at samsung said this is a DLP TV and not a CRT tv.. im confused because i thought the CRT PCB attached to the bottom of that HUGE CRT tube that i changed might indicate its a CRT TV and not a DLP TV LOL....
i guess ill try and install the new board tomorrow when it gets here and hope for the best , the convergence is SO close to right even with the IC board unplugged that im "hoping" that it auto resets the convergence to factory tolerance. im at a loss i feel like i have gotten a half year one of a kind TV when the manufacturer tells me its a DLP and it is Obviously not!
i guess what i really need to know is:
1) how often are these IC/main convergence boards shipped bad.
2) does the actual convergence board that attaches to the chassis with the one screw have to be connected securly? as in does it gain ground from the chassis in any way? if so i am going to use dielectric grease and a wire brush to make better contact to the chassis.
3) how long would it take to blow the IC's before i can get the convergence set and lastly..
4) should i even use perfect focus or actually set each cross hair for each color (only has red and blue that you can change) THEN use perfect focus.
Thanks for tolerating my n00bishness and helping me out man ,
1 they are either rebuilt or a defective returned to stock accidentaly
2 yes securly attaching it helps the heatsinks keep even cooler. no you don't need heatsink grease.
3 if the tolernace is very far out of wack then it woun't take long befor they blow. once you have instaled the new board turn on the set enter mute,1,8,3 then perfect focus on the remote let it do it's thing then shut off the tv and resart the tv and press perfect focus again.

Hi, You cannot exactly reset the whole TV, but you can press the PMode button on your remote control a few times to cycle through all the picture modes (Dynamic, Standard, etc.) in order to factory reset each picture mode.
