Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Ink tank Hi.  My printer was working fine for about 2 months and now it's telling me that "More than one ink tank of the following color is installed."  It's talking about the "8 Black" Cartridge.  It has plenty of ink... I don't understand why it is not recognizing it now.  I have taken it out and put it back in several times but it keeps giving me the same message.  I have also tried to wipe it off.  I don't want to have to go buy a new ink cartridge when this one has plenty in it.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Users having problem like ink cartridge is only partial used, but error code appear to check ink cartridge, maybe trying to taking out and putting back, it works sometime and problem occurs again,

  • By replace a new ink cartridge will sure help as the partial used one would be faulty already, and if you are using Canon ink cartridge, do call up Canon to report the issue and they will exchange a new ink cartridge for the faulty partial used cartridge as it due to the unique feature that Canon has build on the ink cartridges not properly done, which resulted to be faulty. Canon's purpose is to prevent the usage of 3rd party ink cartridges.

Showing Check Ink U051 COL. Have removed the

Hi there

For troubleshooting purposes,
Perform the following:

1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.

2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.

3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.

5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Your tech suggested that I remove both of the ink tanks (black & color) and turn off the printer and then re-start the printer.
After I did that, there was no futher problem, and the printer worked fine with appropriate colors.
