Question about Dell Dimension 4700C PC Desktop
Hi. dell 4700c wont start up. ther is a yellow light on the motherboard. and thats it. no starting up . zero ziltch nada. whats up with that? its a friends pc. so i said id look into it 4 him. he said that his kids would sometimes turn of the pc by turning off the power bar . often. could that mean its the power suply. what do u think guys
I just fixed a Dell 4700c with this exact same problem and it was the power supply. Also on Dells website they say that a flashing yellow light is a power issue. They suggest checking all your power connections. You can also unplug all the power cables to your drives just to make sure it isn't one of the drives that's gone bad and keeping it from starting. While this is highly unlikely I have seen it before.
If you have access to an atx power supply, you can do what I did. Just plug in the new power supply and see if it boots up. You don't have to remove the other power supply to do this. Just plug in the 2 power cables that go to the motherboard, no need to plug in any of the cables to the drives.

I just had the exact same problem with exact same dell. i called support and paid $40 to have them tell me my power supply was shot. i ordered another one for $20 + $16 express shipping and it arrived the next working day and now i'm up and runnng again.

It does sound like it could be the power supply.
