Where do I insert CD?

Good question. The images on the website are not good enough to determine where to put in a CD/DVD. The specifications from the site state that there is a DVD/CD drive, which is good because many new desktops don't come with a DVD/CD drive.

My recommendation is to right-click on the Windows Start button and open Windows Explorer. In Windows Explorer, click on the computer. You should now see your DVD/CD drive under the line Devices with Removable Storage. Right-click on the DVD RW drive and select "Eject" and the drive should open.

Good luck,

Paul

Dell desktop does not start booting when powered up. Fans and drives have power. Boot drive has been checked and is operating properly. Any suggestions??

Try to boot from a CD/DVD disc. Don't know how you can check your boot drive to see if it's O.K. though? If the computer boots from a CD/DVD disc then your OS (operating system software ) is corrupt and needs to be reloaded. That by the way is located on your boot (hard disk ) drive.

My computer dropped my DVD/CD Drive and I need to know how to find it

The CD/DVD icon would be missing
* Your CD or DVD Drive does not read or write and is shown as disabled
* The media in your CD or DVD drive cannot be read
* The media cannot be written to by your CD or DVD drive
* You receive one of the following errors:
A class specific or device specific driver is missing or corrupt
A CD or DVD drive cannot be found or is not connected
The CD or DVD drive is experiencing a problem
that prevents it from working properly
The CD or DVD drive is not accessible via an assigned drive
letter

This happens due to a variety of reasons.
This can be fixed, by rectifying some registry entried
Microsoft has a free utility to automatically run, to get this fixed : access this at : -

Or try the rectifying the registry by following the steps in the link above.

DVD and CD devices not reconized.

Did you add or remove any CD/DVD burning software recently? If so then there may be is a registry edit you need to perform.

More simply, though, if the problem is recent you may try to do a System Restore back to the time before you had the problem.

If you delete the information in the Control Panel and restart your computer, it will look for the driver by itself.

Dvd drive

You Dont specify the O/S but it could be the Autoplay option is turned off.. Try browsing to the Drive via My Computer and double clicking on the CD/Dvd Rom. It should have the name of the DVD or CD as its name. If it doesnt, then there may be a read problem with the drive, If you can manually start the move or drive via the above method, the you need to browse to My Computer, Right click on the DVD drive and you will see an Autoplay Tab at the top. There is a Reset Defaults button if you dont fancy experimenting with the settings, All this is assuming you have some software to play DVDs in the 1st place. Cheers. Pete
