M&S Systems MC602 Master Unit and M&S MCD6 6-disc CD Player

CD player only plays part of whatever track is selected on any of the 6 discs. After 60+ seconds, sound distorts and music stops. Only way to restart is to hit "Disc Select" button and unit moves to next disc where the scenario repeats.

M&S Tech Support indicates the units have been discontinued and there is no support or parts available. We paid $2000 for the units four+ years ago.
Any help would be appreciated.

These units along with room speakers/intercom are part of a whole house music center

The entire M & S MC602 system is junk. WE purchase one w/our new home 10 yrs ago. Had to replace the master unit 3x, tape cassette 2X and then went to a CD player which also broke within 4 months. You might be able to find a dealer online that sells the old parts but the original unit was been discontinued long ago.

We recently purchased a home that has this system and out of the blue the radio stopped working and now blips on the screen RELS. When you checked the manual that means that the gate was open..HELLO NO GATE at our house. Can not find anyone to fix it IF anyone has had this problem, please let me know what you did to fix it. We have reset it and also turned the power off still there!!

We replaced part of the unit in June. The call back buttons in the room stations did not work after the rerplacement, but the radio did and the doorbell sometimes worked. Yesterday it died again. Does anyone know if the unit MUST be replaced by a M&S product or can other brands be used? After reading the posts, I don't want another replacement that works for a few months.

My MC 602 was installed brand new when we built the house. Now none of the speakers work, the main unit with CD changer does not work. We hear just faint sound when cd is playing. The door chime does not work. It is impossible to get help from Tech support and none of their dealers return calls. It is really frustrating! Can someone please help with repair in Ellicott City, MD.

When I turn the player on and select a disc and track, the counter just cycles through all the discs and continues doing this forever.

Load an other known good disc, and check. If it too do the same, the laser pickup unit to your player is faulty and should be replaced. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I just purchased a Rowe AMI CD-100a. It was a barn find. Once I learned to initialize, I tried to play individual tacks or entire CDs. For each track, the unit picks the CD, places it down on the player...

Could be the power supply voltage is low, possibly due to a bad capacitor, it seems that when the counter advances it is pulling the voltage down enough to cause the problem you are experiencing. If you can select a disc in the service mode, the counter should be inactive, and you can see if the disc will play through.

After i have finish recording and i am finalizing the the cd code OPC appears on the screen, and being finalize the cannot play in other cd player why?

OPC means the unit had trouble Optical Processing Calibration, which means the disc surface may be damaged. Using brand name media and being careful to not touch the recording surface would help.

It's not completing the finalization so it won't play in a CD player yet.

It's mostly in the manual

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Harman-Kardon-CDR-20-CD-Players-manual/id/386dj191/t/2/

OPC: Stands for Optical Processing Calibration.

When you see this message in the Information

Display for the Record DeckK, it means

that the laser transport inside the unit is making

the calibrations and adjustments needed so that

the recording process is optimized for the specific
disc in use.

When an unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW disc is

placed in the Record Deck%, the letters

OPCwill flash once the Table of Contents has

been read. This indicates that the unit is optimizing

its circuits for maximum compatibility with

the specific recordable disc in use. the number

and total running time of any tracks that have

already been recorded will appear in the

Information DisplayK, and the appropriate

indicator SPwill light to tell you if a CD-R or
CD-RW disc is in use.

To Finalize a disc, place it in the Record

Drawer%. Once the disc's Table of Contents

information has been read and the OPC process

has been completed, press the Finalize button

E@and note that the Finalize Indicator

Uwill begin to flash. Within three seconds,

press the Select button9*and note that

the Finalize IndicatorUwill stop flashing.

The Finalization process will take up to two

minutes, depending on the length of material

recorded on the disc. During the Finalization

process the Record Deck will not accept any
operating commands.

A cd is wedged in unit. can not remove cd changer

Hi,
First press and hold Track-Up and Mode buttons at same time on unit for three seconds to reset disc player, then check if cd get release.
In some cases, performing a reset on the MCD6 may resolve your problem. First try resetting the MCD6 player by pressing the TRACK UP and POWER buttons at the same time. If that does not work, remove the plastic front cover by pulling straight out and press the RESET button below the keypad. If your MCD6 player still does not operate, please take off cover from cd player and try to manually release wedged cd in unit.
If loading gears worn out then nothing will help to fix the unit, please contact local repair shop or M&S Systems at (214).358-3 196
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks.

1 Answer

The system won't eject the CD changer.

You will need to reset your system.

Turn on the master unit and select the CD as your source. Open the door on the master unit to show all of the speaker numbers, here you will find a small pin hole next to the number 5 speaker. Use a small paper clip, unfold it and stick it into the reset hole. Hold the pin there for a minimum of 5 seconds until the clock starts to blink. Hit the time button seven times to get a solid time again. After turn on the master power and try the CD player again.

In my case the disc cartridge ejected when i was resetting the system.

CD player won't play after pressing the play button on all tracks

This problem is usually caused by dust or smog accumulating on the laser lens assembly. Unplug the unit and remove the top cover. Take a cotton swab and wet one end with glass cleaner. Wipe it gently across the lens (do not apply pressure). Use the other end of the swab to dry the lens. Reassemble the unit and test for skipping or non-playing discs.
