Question about NEC MultiSync VT480 Multimedia Projector

Can't open Filter

My projector says "Clean Filter" every time I start it. There are 2 small ones that I've tried to clean and I'm pretty sure there is another filter near the bulb. I can't open it. It opens about a 1/2 inch and won't go any further. How can I get to it?

Optoma hd65 has a red light. Only had it for 5 months. How do you fix?

The red indicator light usually comes on when something needs attention. Most often it has to do with the lamp timer or the filter timer. The projector keeps track of how long it's been since you've changed the bulb or cleaned the filter(s). You can reset these timers in the menu. Be sure to clean the filter before you reset the timer

"clean and reset filter" alert is displayed even

You can reset the "Filter Time" on your projector and it will clear this error out of the system.

1) Clean Filter
2) Turn the power on
3) Hit the Menu button
4) Once the menu appears choose "Options"
5) Choose "Filter Time"
7) While the time is displayed hold the "Reset" button on the remote for 3 seconds
8) The "Reset" menu will pop-up and choose reset.

That should take care of it.

After tuning on PLT735U, we get proper display and then less than 10 seconds later, it shuts down.

Do any of the lights turn a different color or blink? Please let me know as this can tell me more specifically what is happening.
Many time projectors turning off like this can mean overheating.

  • Check the filter on the projector, this is usually behind a small plastic piece that is held in place by a small clip
  • Carefully wash the filter and let tap dry with a paper towel. Be sure to have it completely dry before replacing it.
  • Make sure all of the other opening on the projector are free of dust/dirt as this will restrict airflow as well

I little dust will do a lot of harm, keep it clean and you should be all good.

The full manual fo the unit can be located here:

I hope this helps,

Loud humming on my TW90. I'm assuming fan problem but how easy to check/fix?

There should be a small removable grill with a filter. Try cleaning the filter before you fix anything else. If it is a foam filter, you can clean it with soap and water. Make sure it is completely dry before reinstalling. If you have a paper filter, just blow it off.

When I turn on my hitachi CP-X205 projector, there is a very noticeable "fan" sound. Yesterday while using the projector it made a sound and then turned it self off. After unplugging it, I plugged it back...

Hi!

You need to clean the projector. Take of the filter and clean it, open the topschell of your projector and clean it.
In time a projector collects a lot of dust inside, if you dosenrt regulary clean the filter the dust pass it and stucks inside the projecotor. Use compressed air for the job but be verry verry carefull so you dont damage anything vital. If you arent sure how to to it i sugest you take it to a electronic repairshop, its cheap and they will clean it properly.

Good luck to you

My projector turns on then off

Probably your projector filter is full of dust, and probably even the inside id full of dust. You need to clean the filter and you need to clean the inside. The fan starts coz the lemp inside cant get any air, as soon as you turn the projector on it gets overheated.
Go to a pro and let him/her clean your projector good, then it should work properly again. And make sure that you clean the filter at least 3-4 times per year.

Good luck

Projector Reset

Hi Here is the info for you :: Caring For The Air Filter The air filter should be cleaned about every 100 hours. If the indicators or a message prompts you to clean the air filter, clean the air filter as soon as possible. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, then it needs to be replaced. Please replace the air filter as soon as possible. memoWhen you replace the lamp, please replace also the air filter. Turn off the projector, and unplug the power cord. Allow the lamp bulb to cool for at least 45 minutes. Apply a vacuum cleaner to the top of the filter cover and the air filter to clean. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, it needs to be replaced. If the air filter needs to be replaced, contact your dealer to prepare a new air filter. Tell the dealer your air filter type. Turn on the projector power, and reset the filter timer. (1) While the projector running, press the MENU button to open the menu. (2) Choose the ?OPTION? on the menu using the / button, then press the button or ENTER button. (3) Choose the ?FILTER TIME? using the / button, then press and hold theRESET button for 3 seconds. (4) Choose the ?RESET? using the button. memo Incorrectly resetting of the filter timer (resetting without replacement, or neglect of resetting after replacement) will result in incorrect message functions. Displayed massege to check air flow

With most projectors there is a foam air filter behind a grill that is the opening to the cooling channels. A fan ensures air flow to cool the lamp, etc. This filter prevents dust from gumming up the works (and depending on design) may prevent dust getting into the optics. As the filter gets dirty it gradually cuts off the air and at some point a protective circuit kicks in and turns off the lamp.
If the projector is on you will feel a stream of hot air coming out of the exit vent. Projectors vary in terms of amount of air flow, so its difficult to define what is normal for a specific model. However, you can simply hold a hand in front of the vent and see if there is air flow (It will be hot air so, careful). If there is a "good" stream of air things are fine, but if only a very light flow is felt the filter may be dirty.
If the filter has not been cleaned or replaced recently make sure the projector is turned off and cooled down then take off the inlet cover and remove the filter. Clean or replace per the instructions for the projector (and periodically as defined .. but taking into account the operating conditions). Once cleaned turn on the projector and feel the "normal" air current for future reference.
Heat is one of the major causes of projector failure, so make sure cooling vents (inlet and outlet) are not obstructed and filters are kept clean
