Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

My AKAI Tuner Quartz Synthesizer model no. AT-A301 went completely dead. This happened after being hooked up to the amplifier wrong. Once it was hooked up correctly the tuner kind of made a low humming sound when it was turned on. It worked for about six times, with a low hum and then it went comletely dead. It sort of seems like the power supply burnt up! Is there anything I can do to fix this tuner? JON

Put my stero together turned it on.when I turn it up overload lite comes on theen it shuts off

Unplug the speakers from it and see if the unit powers up. If it does then a speaker has a short. IF it does not, unhook everything from it and check again. If it works then something is over driving the amp. If it does not work then something is wrong inside the unit in either the protection circuit or the drivers and finals.

First connect all sources like tuner, cassette player, Cd player into the proper RCA inputs of the control amp, then connect the output of the control amp into the input of the equalizer. Then connect the output of the equalizer into the input of the amplifier. This is how to get the best performance and proper outputs to all the right equipment. The speaker outputs of the amplifier would then go to the speakers.

How do I connect this system together to get it to work?

The manual for the amplifier and all the other units are here. Use the search feature in the top right with just the model number 'AT-5210'. Getting the items in the right order helps. The turntable obviously goes on top. The Amplifier goes in the middle and all the other units connect to the amp.

Picture goes in and out

Hello,
This will require you opening the back cover of the television to test some component with the use of an ohmmeter.
This may be a slight drift - like someone is messing with the fine tuning
or such a substantial change in tuning frequency that the channels go by
as though you are surfing.

Possible causes depend on tuner type:

1. Quartz tuner (10 button direct access digital synthesizer) - For a
slight drift, a component is probably changing value, possibly the
crystal in the reference oscillator. For gross changes - flipping
through channels - it is more likely to be a digital control problem -
the microcontroller is misdirecting the synthesizer to change frequency.

2. Varactor tuner (buttons but not direct channel access) - If only a
single pushbutton selection is the problem, the the varactor tuning diode
for that button is probably changing capacitance. If all channels in
a band (Vl, Vh, U) are having a problem, it is more likely to be a
drifting D/A or faulty AFT (Automatic Fine Tuning) circuit or power supply.

3. Turret or switch tuner (Knobs) - A component like a capacitor is changing
value.

You will have to get in there with a heat gun or cold spray and track it down
the old fashioned way. At least, the problem is almost certainly localized
to the tuner box (and possibly the controller if applicable).

As noted, gradual slight changes in tuning are likely due to frequency
determining components drifting.

Uncontrolled channel surfing is probably a logic problem. For the
quartz tuner, this could still be marginal connections causing the
microprocessor to misdirect the synthesizer to change channels.

For the latter case, particularly, the cause may still be bad connections
resulting in loss of channel memory and/or erratic behavior.
Take care...
