Using audio video jacks on my computer

You didn't include make and model TV; so only generalized answers are possible.

Typical RCA phono jacks like those shown in the blue box of the stereo amplifier below:

will accept cables to connect to other audio devices. The audio RCA jacks are color coded RED (right) and WHITE (left) for low level stereo signals. Some have YELLOW jacks for Standard Definition video, ORANGE jacks for AC3 Digital audio and newer amps have HDMI jacks.

Connect the TV's audio OUTPUT jacks and a stereo pair of unused audio INPUT jacks on the amplifier with cables that have ends that match each. Turn on the stereo & TV and select the input on the amplifier that matches the stereo pair of inputs you used to connect to the TV. Adjust the volume to hear the audio over your stereo system's speakers.

Use the HDMI or AC3 sources for superior audio - including 5.1 (or better) Dobly Digital when possible. Otherwise, a standard 2 channel stereo program will be heard.

Plug it into the audio output jack on the back of your Presario. There are probably 3 jacks that look like headphone jacks; use the green one. Don't forget to power on your speakers and ensure that the audio driver on the Presario is installed correctly.

Hi, on the back of your t.v. near the V.G.A. input should be marked another small hole for P.C. AUDIO INPUT or something to that effect, it actually is nothing more than a headphone jack that you connect to P.C.'s LINE OUT/HEADPHONE jack-it's easy to find, the sound on your computer will stop when you plug in a " MALE TO MALE 1/8 INCH STEREO " cord into it. If the question is can I convert my composite video output to a super video input then the answer is NO,

The composite is coaxial (2 wires) the S-Video uses 4pins and there is no S-Video output on a Presario 1200 laptop.

You can however use a Multi-AV SCART adaptors with Input/Output signal switch where you plug in the composite video output into the top video and 3.5 mm jack stereo audio into the mono audio connections on top.( via a stereo to mono cable)

just insert ur camera cable into line in jack in Audio (sky colour)
and listen it in ur PC

The only thing that comes to mind is a problem with the headphone jack. The jack, itself, could be bad and not opening the speaker circuit when the head phones are plugged in. The other thing might be that the plug on the head phones is not completely compatible with the jack. The second case could possibly be resolved by trying a different type, or brand, of headphones. The first problem would require tearing the laptop down to the point of being able to adjust or replace the jack.

Plug in the speakers Jack,
then restart computer with headphones plugged inside.You will still hear windows startup sound.
At this point remove headphones and restart.
The problem is usually fixed in this way.

You should just have to plug them in. It should be as simple as that, There should be a "miniture stereo" jack from the speakers (usually coloured green). There should be an audio out jack on your compaq. Just plug it in.

If this is a laptop, there MAY be a setting in your control panel to redirect the audio to external speakers. Sheck your compaq owners manual.

Do you mean you can get it to turn on?
