I have a Sony DAV C500 dvd player and it is unable to eject the discs that are in the system. There are presently 5 dvds in the player. The motor whirrs for a bit and then slowly quiets down with no...
Because it is a multi-disc DVD player, as opposed to a single disc type, and because discs are trapped inside, it may be worth submission to an authorised SONY service centre, obtaining a repair quote (and a second opinion as to whether it is economical to fix or not) - this allows you to decide on a further course of action.
Since you are concerned the surround sound cabling that you have may not be compatible with a new player, consider trying to get this one repaired first - but only if you agree to the quoted costs by qualified service technicians.
It might not be a good idea to try to retrieve the DVDs from the unit yourself; let a technician do it professionally as part of the overall repairs (make sure you get all the trapped discs back with the unit after repair completion).
Multi-disc DVD players are generally more likely to be worth repairing than single disc units. Up to you what you decide to do, but bear in mind, it could be expensive, but not unfixable.
The good news is this unit is repairable - just keep the workshop labour costs in mind.
