Most of the drivers are picked up by xp.....the audio driver although an AC97 you need to download an older version of the driver realtek ac97 3.97 usually does the trick.....install it and then uninstall the driver from your driver properties and then click 'check for new hardware' button. When it asks you to connect to the internet let it do this.....it will then install a driver which works called conexant ac-audio link.....this one works.
The xpress 200m driver you can get directly from ati

Begin here at this link for Compaq. Pick out your Model No#.
The most important first driver you'll need is the network / NIC driver so you can access the internet.
Download your drivers & save to either a CD or wait till XP w/sp2 is installed & download to a folder you'll need to create & name.
Each driver should be in it's own folder with-in the main folder.
After XP w/sp 2 is installed turn on windows firewall loacted in windows control panel to protect you while your connected to the internet. Update windows XP completely.
Please install .Netframe work updates one at a time & in order. Re-start windows when requested.
When windows has finished all updates including hardware & software updates. Open control panel, open System. Click the hardware tab & than click the Device manager button. Look for any yellow ! points. You can than right click once on that ! point & left click update driver, instruct windows to install driver (pick the option to show windows where to get the needed driver, which is in the folder you created on your desktop). Device manager may not show the name of the missing device. That's ok because you can go down the list of drivers in your folder untill windows finds the one it needs. Between windows update & XP SP 2 you may only need a couple drivers. The most common is video display & SM controllers also known as Chip-Set drivers.
If you provide me with the model no# & rev no# I can find the drivers for you. As you will notice there are many v200's listed.
I'll need the correct one.
Thanks for using FixYa!
I'll check back from time to time to see if you have posted more questions or information. Fell free to do so.
